I am trying to compile a list of all the different brands of breeches that are popular in the hunter and jumper rings. So far I have the following:

Stain and dirt resistant material that has stretch… And great fit of course!

What is your biggest complaint about breeches in general?
It can be hard to find quality breeches at a decent price. I have a small waist, and short mind section with long legs, and it is very difficult to find breeches that fit in the waist without being tight on my legs. Usually I order a size up so breeches fit my legs, and wear a belt.

What is your biggest complaint about TS breeches, if any?
I love TS, especially the low rise side zip trophy hunters. Favorite breeches by far. I would like to see TS come out with an optional sock bottom. I also wish their whites had better coverage.

Doesn’t really make a huge difference to me.

Do you prefer a wide waistband versus a thinner one?
Wide waistband.

Quality of the fabric and stitching, I always try to read reviews before purchasing and they can influence my opinion.

When purchasing breeches do you pay attention to where they are made? Would you rather pay a bit more for breeches made in Italy, USA or Canada versus made in China?
Yes, Italy, USA, and Canada are known to have higher quality standards. I try to stay away from things made in China or similar countries in general.

Too expensive and don’t always hold up well.

The last pair of TS I bought had the stitching come off the knee patches. They haven’t been holding up like they used to. Otherwise they are perfect.

I like nice fabric, mid to regular rise, and no euroseat. I also would LOVE to see some of these manufacturers come out with petite sizes. There are a lot of short riders out there. I would also LOVE to see rust offered as one of the regular colors.

I would pay up to $10 more for breeches made in the USA.

I have to go up a size for my massive thighs so the waist is always huge…

Not much, but I buy the long size so the rise is slightly higher.

velcro, the stretch doesn’t allow me to adjust enough

wide. Fits my TS belts and looks better on me.

look? Basically. I only really buy pikeur and ts because I can school and show in them.

A couple other brands might be Alessandro Albanese, Equiline, GPA, Tredstep.

For schooling, fir and comfort. For showing (I’m a jumper) fit and style.

I think the older fabric has a problem with fading, not sure if the new materials fades or not.

They both have benefits. Velcro you can adjust tightness and therefore it is a more “custom feel.” The stretchy on the Animos can bunch up and feel funny. The stretchy on pants like Equiline and Tredstep is best I think.

Wide. Thin feels dated style-wise.

Styling and comfort.

I think I definitely would pay more for better quality. My assumption would be that the China pants would not be of as high quality in material and workmanship as a US or European brand.

I don’t really pay attention to where things are made. If the quality and fit are good as well as price, I buy.

Great fit, machine wash, don’t stretch out or sag while riding.

What is your biggest complaint about breeches in general?
Unflattering around the crotch area, sag during wear, the waist to leg size ratio doesn’t seem right… if the waist fits and the legs are tight or vice versa.

What is your biggest complaint about TS breeches, if any?
The only thing I wish was different about the Trophy Hunters is that they had a sock bottom instad of the velcro, since it bunches under my socks.

I prefer the sock bottom, the velcro is also an issue in the washer as it will grab fabric.

2" waist band

I don’t really care where they are made as long as the quality of fit and the fact that they wash and wear well.

-In the styles that have the horizontal line in the calf, HATE that. They don’t fit me well. Love the Trophy Hunters, though.

-I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I like the Velcro. I am not coordinated enough to bounce on one leg as I try to get breeches off without practically falling over. Velcro give me more room to take them off. :slight_smile:

-Well, like in the first question, it’s how I feel they look on me, and within budget. I mostly buy the high-end breeches from consignment shops, etc. Amazing what you can find almost new (if not BRAND new) at sales, online, etc.

  • I really don’t. I don’t look. I probably should. Made in USA would be nice, but usually I don’t notice that.

I love my TS breeches. The regular length is too long though, and there aren’t many places that let you order shorts. Also, I wish they were less expensive

Stretchy sock. I hate the extra fabric that gets bunched up with the velcro bottoms. I often just cut the whole bottom off (see above about my midget legs, so this actually works for me). I also hate it when the velcro doesn’t align properly, and then twists, digging all those little plastic spikes into your leg

wide I guess, easier to find belts that work. I don’t really care though

hmmm, lots of things. I want a long-wearing fabric that looks great after years of use and washing. I want something affordable. I love a good color selection for schooling breeches. For winter breeches, I want something WARM. Price is always somewhat important.

I guess I don’t really pay attention. I’d be wiling to pay more for something made in the USA if I was paying attentiong, though.

I was shopping for breeches the other day and was wondering everyone else’s shopping style, complaints, Etc. I suppose I should answer my own questions:

-I love the material they are made of. (Ariat Pro Circuits)

-To get a good fit in the hips/bum I need to go up a size or 2 depending on the brand and then the waist is too big.

  • They way the wash, they fit me great brand new off the rack but after being run through the wash a few times they never fit right again.

-Stretchy. I find the velcro always scratches my legs.

-Wide.

I wish I had time to start a new line of breeches. Creating a product wouldn’t be an issue but I would have absolutely no time to market.

  1. favoite becuase of the material that is strechy and stays true to form (not baggy) while feeling comfortable.
  2. general complaint is the seem in the critch (FITS dont have this but the sturdier material rubs my chafes my inner tight…sorry if thats TMI…)
  3. TS – I dont like the velcro wrap, wish it was seemsless more like Ariat. And wish the show colow was less green and lighter.
  4. stretchy.
  5. Wide
  6. Comfort and feel of the fabric
  7. I dont pay attention. Fit and comfort are my top prioities. TS and Ariat’s my favorite. Animos are too $$$ for schooling for me.
