Bravecto Oral Flea/Tick ROCKS!!!!

This new oral “Bravecto” flea/tick treatment is AMAZING!! I gave Tribble (corgi) and Tesno (big fuzzy dog) the pill on Saturday. Last night I rolled Tribble over to give her a tummy rub after our walk and was horrified to see blood on her fur. I thought she’d gotten a wound somehow. After I scrubbed her off with antiseptic, I found that two ticks had literally exploded and detached before they’d even gotten engorged. Finally a medication that kills the fuckers!

They are absolutely telling the truth when they say “IMMEDIATE” tick killing!

Pssst… Edit post to read “finally a medication that kills the f***ers” ASAP?

Is Bravecto for sale in the US now, or did you order from the internet? I wanted to try it last year, but it was only in Europe.

Bravecto is finally for sale in the US now. Glad you’ve had good experiences with it OP!

I ordered it from Pets Megastore in Australia but it is available here as well; however, I think you need an RX for it here.

I agree!! Bravecto is amazing!! It’s only available with a Rx, and not all vet clinics carry it yet. I’m glad mine does though!

I use it on my pack and have been very happy with it.

Bravecto is awesome. We carry it at our clinic. A lot of customers want it and love it. We do require an exam within the last year on file for it since it is script.

Report update: Since those two exploded ones, I have found one desiccated carcass on the floor, but NO MORE. I think it was killing ones that had already attached. This is fantastic. Plus, only every three months, so in my area they will only need two doses per year! (May and August.)

how does it work on fleas, though?

we have seven and last year frontline killed everything but fleas… including our wallet… not looking forwards to the infestation again!! how expensive is it? ticks are not as big an issue here but god the fleas were awful.

I don’t know about fleas because we don’t really have fleas here. But you can read the test results and literature. I believe it kills fleas extraordinarily well, though.

Edit: I paid about $34 per pill at Pets Megastore. Since you only give one pill every three months, that works out to only about $11/month.

What size dog Guin? I’d consider using it for my outside dogs as they have the most tick issues.

my vet suggested it for my dog since he likes to swim so much - the topical tick meds dont last as long on the big swimmers. My concern with the bravecto is the tick still actually needs to bite before its killed (similar to revolution.) Thats why I like advantix since it actually repels the tick.

I dose the advantix every 3 weeks instead of 4 ,and havent had a single tick since I started it.

Works great on fleas. There is a ton of literature you can find on it and their testing results. Not to mention, its totally safe.

We’ve had a ton of flea allergy/infested dogs started on it with great results.

Big Fuzzy Dog is about 83 pounds, and Corgi is about 37 pounds.

@Luvmypup: I see you are in Canada and your ticks are not yet immune to Advantix. In my area Advantix stopped being effective about two years ago.

wow, no way! That is crazy… Ive never heard of that being an issue. Hopefully our canadian ticks continue to be sensitive to advantix for many more years.

Just tried it, and I can attest to it being awesome for fleas. I have a flea allergic cat, and brought in a feral who apparently had fleas totally resistant to revolution. The Trifexis was working ok for the dog, but he still had a few on him. Cheristin for the cats, Bravecto for the dog, and the flea problem is GONE (I did treat the house and yard as well, but it still wasn’t working). Dog AND flea-allergic cat are SO much happier.

BTW, more people in this area are switching to Cheristin for the cats - Revolution was really no longer working and that’s a shame (seems to work ok on the other stuff it’s designed for, just not the darned fleas)

Is cheristan the same as comfortis? I’d like to try it as I have one cat who is sensitive to topicals and another who is a flea magnet and has very thick fur making applying topicals difficult.

One-week update: The ticks are gone. Gone. We are walking in the same tick-infested meadows as usual, and there is not one tick on the dogs when we come home. This is incredible.
