Break away stirrups

Looking for recommendations. Not for show or competing; looking to stay safe riding alone at home.

Does anyone know about these? Reasonably priced.

You can look into these, too. My friend has them and seems very satisfied.

They have them in brown and black, I believe.

Really wide or adding taps are other options too, safety wise.

I have a set of those, also riding alone and in no man’s land canyons, it seemed a good insurance.

Can’t say how they work, have not been in any situation where I could try them.

I have always used peacock stirrups in my English saddle when I could also, since I saw one fellow dragged thru two streets while in a parade, when the horse spooked, dumped him and his foot was caught in the left stirrup.
It took that long for the stirrup leather to come off the safety bars, that were open.
A smaller person would not have dislodged the stirrup leathers, as it would have hung straight down, not dragged.

The horse finally stopped once he was not dragging him.
The fellow was ok, just scraped and bruised.

Using regular stirrups too small or too big are themselves a risk, one your foot gets in a bind easier, the other, your whole boot may go thru the too big stirrup.

Some accidents can’t be helped, but any less to get hung up by could make the difference in getting dragged, if you were ever in that situation, which most will never be.

Maybe these? I have not tried these but liked the look of them. http://www.ridingwarehouse.com/Tough-1_EZ_Out_Quick_Release_Safety_Western_Stirrups/descpage-T1EOSS.html
