Breast Augmentation and Riding?

I have always wanted breast augmentation and am starting to think seriously about it. My reservation is size and riding - I don’t want to go too big or have it impede my riding at all. Does anyone have advice from personal experience? How soon did you go back to riding? I’ve heard ranges from 6 weeks to three months!

How big are you planning to go? I’ve known two riders who had the surgery, but they were both very “flat chested” and only went up to “B” cups. The advantage is that implants are firm compared to natural, so in their 50’s they’re still able to ride without a bra. I know they were riding not long after the surgery, probably about six weeks.

Well as a natural DD, I won’t say they interfere with my riding, but I definitely need an extra tight sports bra right now learning dressage sitting medium trot.

An ex-trainer who was fairly small busted had it done to a C cup and I think it was about 6 weeks before she was back riding lightly and 3 mos before totally back to 100%. I haven’t looked into it personally but I believe they were the newer gummy bear type implants inserted between/through the chest muscles, which she commented added to the healing time but is supposed to keep them in place better so they don’t migrate, which I think was a complication of the older, firmer silicone implants which sat on top of the chest muscle? I wonder if that technique also cuts down on the body sometimes walling them off with scar tissue? I understand the newer gummy bear implants are softer and look/feel more natural, instead of the older style very round very firm. What those of us who once rode motorcycles called “bolt ons”

They don’t impede riding. Just follow doc instructions and take care of yourself, don’t rush it. Go for a size that fits your frame. Big boobs really do have their downfalls (size E here) but… mine don’t impede with riding. Honestly, if I was a full C I’d have been happy with that. Love what I’ve got, but sometimes they annoy me due to clothing fit and that at times my back will hurt.

I had one done two years ago. I was out of the saddle for 6 weeks but they don’t impede my riding at all now. I went from a flat B cup to a DD and as long as I wear a supportive sports bra, I haven’t noticed any difference in my riding. If you ever want to PM me about it, feel free…I’m happy to share the experience
