Breastplate recommendation for monoflap saddles?

I’m in the market for a new breastplate. I really don’t like the 5 point breastplates. I’ve been looking at the long bridge 3 point breastplates (maybe something like the Prestige D29 EVO). Can anybody offer a recommendation of what they like? Must work with a monoflap saddle.

Not sure if I know how to make a link properly on COTH, but this is the breastplate I bought and LOVE. It fits great. Plus I did not want one of those with the sheepskin or whatever the fluffy stuff is underneath, in the shoulder area. I figured it would get all sweaty and icky. This breastplate has a rubber type something that just wipes off with a damp cloth. I have a regular jumping saddle, not a monoflap. But it seems like this breastplate should work just fine with a monoflap.

I personally love the Butet and Dyon ones, but I can’t afford them :joy:

I have a Nunn Finer 3 point for my monoflaps - the one already linked. Clips to a d-ring by the stirrup bar. Not a fan of 5 point for safety reasons – to many things to undo in a crisis.

I have this Tori breastplate and just love it - especially the easy side snap. Makes tacking up a breeze - I installed small clip ends on each d-ring end, for easy on/off.

The biggest problem I have with finding these is that they are impossible to get in black o/s. :frowning:

I have the Fairfax performance breastplate and absolutely love it! Works very well with my monoflap.

I cant understand why these breastplates are over $500…its 2 or three small pieces of leather lol

Butet does those - contact Sagmae.

Nunn Finer’s hunt breastplate comes in black and O/S! I have one. I have the black/brass version but I have seen it in silver too. I bought it used for dirt cheap on Ebay.

This is it:

The Fairfax was $298, I would never pay $500 for a breastplate! I also used a $100 gift card, so technically I paid $198.

Thats close to $500 CDN to me though :joy:

Oh look at the stupid American, assuming everyone is talking about USD.

lol well I think the other ones might be pretty up in there in USD too. I am jealous of the deal you got on yours!

Sadly black is not an option for the plate itself only for the attachments on their site. :woman_shrugging: Otherwise I would for sure order!

Similar style to the Butet/Dyon but for 1/4th the price. I haven’t seen them in person but the bridles have gotten good reviews on the Dressage forum.

I have friends with these bridles and the unfortunately quality isn’t great imo.

The lumiere bridles aren’t great quality?

Bit of Britain has it

Fairfax have paid quite a lot into researching tack design to increase performance, including breastplate design.

When I can afford it, I don’t mind paying out more to companies like Fairfax and Neue Schule, who are committed to improving performance and welfare through properly conducted research.

That is exactly why I purchased this particular breastplate. For my horse taking on those enormous Novice efforts!
