Breeches closest to TS fit?

So, I’ve been wearing the Tailored Sportsman mid-rise front zip breeches for the last 5 or 6 years, and they fit me great. But I’m getting to the point where I need to replace some of them, and not sure I want to go back with the TS. Does anybody know what schooling breeches would have the most similar fit? My biggest issues with breeches is trying not to have a waist gap, but still fitting my hips, so breeches for curvy girls would be a huge help, especially after having 2 kids!

I’ve tried the Romfh Sarafina, but they didn’t really do it for me…would love other opinions!

Highly recommend Elation breeches from Greenhawk. Their Chelsea breeches are made similar to TS but I’m not sure how they compare side by side. I LOVE the Elation Brooklyn breech the best.Right amount of stretch, but with a fabric that hides cellulite and washes well.

Ovation breeches have worked great for me!

Have you tried the RJ Gulfs? That’re my go-to breech now.

I haven’t tried the Gulfs - do they fit pretty comparably to the TS? They sure look similar…

It’s been a long time since I bought TS, because I hate the velco bottoms. I just held my last long pair of TSs up against the RJs, and the cut is pretty identical. I think the RJs are a size smaller than the TS, too, but I fit in both of them pretty well. I’m okay with the fit on the Sarafinas you don’t like, and loathe the fit on the SP Piper breeches, if that tells you anything. (You can also usually find the RJs in schooling colors on some kind of sale, too.)

I looove TS but I recently upgraded to some higher-end brands for competition.

I found that Pikeur had the best fit for me, and in my opinion most similar fit to that of TS.

Second to Pikeur I like the Equiline Ash breeches. I sized up one size from Pikeur.

cavellaria Toscana - I do not like the way they fit at all. Apparently there’s a low rise & mid ride and my luck is I always order the low rise? No matter the size I just find they don’t sit quite right, and especially for the price it’s a hard pass.

I cannot speak for TS as I have never worn them.

But the brands and models that have worked for me in terms of solving waist gap are Smartpak Hadleys, Romfh Champions, Horze Daniela and Grand Prix, and Riding Sport by Dover Essential breeches. These I can all wear with no belt, which is my requirement. Others also mentioned a few more in another thread i recently started.

Pipers caused terrible gapping.

I haven’t had a pair of TS in a long long time, but I recently tried the RJ Gulfs and immediately bought 3 pairs. I was apprehensive to get a low rise since I’m curvier too and prefer a mid rise. But took a chance since the low-rise option was on sale on Dover and the cut really is closer to a mid than a low. I really love the technical fabric and the color choices are great.

Another vote for the Elation Chelseas, but size up in the Chelsea breeches (up one size from your typical TS size).

Look into the Hadley breeches by SmartPak, they’re all I wear now!

I agree with trying the Hadley breeches.. Steer clear of Pipers…they will gap on you.

I’m with you - TS are one of the only brands that fit me perfectly. Hadleys and Pikeur are the 2 that fit the closest of all the brands I’ve tried. (fwiw I am tall, athletic build, muscular legs but small waist - I have trouble finding breeches that fit my legs without being too big in the waist)

I like the Strucks but they run big in the waist. I sized down 1 from my TS, but they still gap about 2" in the waist in the back. They are super comfortable though (and sticky!)

I recently tried Animo breeches and I really like them. Quality material, sock bottom, mid rise, comfy and flattering. They’re $$$ but quickly becoming my new favorite.

Oh, I forgot I love my Animos also! Super sticky grip. Fit great and fit true to size. I purchased a pair of their “leggings” on accident off eBay for $100 and I am obsessed with them!

I am another vote for the Elation Chelseas - I have found them to be the most comparable to my favourite TS. I sized up one size to get the best leg fit and more of a mid-rise rather than a low-rise.

Elation is only in Canada though, right?

Elation is a Canadian brand, but I believe you are able to order them from the Greenhawk website! You can try this link: https://greenhawk.com/wdItemDesc.asp…ricSKU=DRC7991

I love the Hadley’s. They’re all I wear now. I wear them to do barn chores along with riding and they’ve held up pretty well, though the fabric sometimes snags.
