Hi everyone! I am looking to buy my first pair of higher end breeches. I usually wear TS mid rise, but have found that the quality isn’t always the best. I’m wondering if anyone has tried the Equiline X Shape breeches or the Samshield Clara? I am looking for a mid to higher rise Breech similar to TS. I am also pretty curvy and shorter, so am wondering which brand might be best for my figure. Any suggestions?
I love the Equiline X Shape and am short with a little junk in the trunk. I haven’t tried the Samshield Clara, but have worn their Mathilde breeches quite a lot. I am not sure if the beige color of the Clara is different, but the Mathilde are very light, too light in my view to be flattering. They are too long for me, but I’m only 5.1. I find the X shape perfect, super comfortable and slimming. The rise on the Mathilde is really low in my opinion, but I have no idea about the Clara.
Do you find the sizing to be pretty true to size? Like if I’m a 32 in TS I think that is supposed to be a IT 48
That’s correct. I’m the same size. Beware that an IT48 is a snug 32, so if you’re closer to 34, you might want to go up another size.
I’d also suggest trying the Struck breeches-- I’m a shapely 32 and love the fit and feel of the Struck brand.
Weirdly, TS don’t fit me well at all: the size I need in the waist is way too big in the legs. I find the Equiline x shape/b move ones better proportioned and they are much stretchier.
Have you tried Horse Pilot? I’m a 32 in TS and wear a L in them. I find the waist a little snugger than TS but there is also an elastic panel that gives you more flexibility.
I haven’t but I’ll check them out!
I bought a pair of Equiline at WEC a couple weeks back, and they are DIVINE. The Atirk with the b-move fabric rather than x-shape, but worth every penny of their absurd price tag. Fabric is gorgeous and they are very slimming.
These are my top 2 favorite breeches on the market. You can’t go wrong with either. One thing to note, the Equiline runs a little smaller and the fabric is stiffer/more traditional. Samshield’s fabric is more forgiving/stretchy.
The X-Shapes are more flattering, but Samshield are more comfortable.
Hope that helps!
I like both my Equiline and Samshield breeches, but as someone else noted, the Samshields are a very light shade, and I find that by the nature of the fabric, they stain more than the Equilines.
I live in my samshields. I am a US32 in most brands and I wear a 44 Samshield and they’re a little tiny bit roomy but I don’t like my breeches legging-tight.
Animo Naspre. They are divine. The most comfortable breeches I’ve ever worn.
The local tack shop said that the samshields sell terribly and they won’t be ordering any more once they are sold out.
Equilines get stuck in places in my body that they shouldn’t.
Could have something to do with the absolutely obscene price. I got mine for $132/pr in europe and find them very nice for that price.
If you’re going to spend that kind of money I’d highly suggest looking at the Maya Delorez compression breeches. I used to ride exclusively in TS. But I bought two pair of the MD compression breeches and they might be the last brand I ever wear. I now have four pair. Thick, quality compression fabric that moves well, doesn’t feel heavy, and is supportive and flattering. Silicone is high quality and very grippy. Whites aren’t see through. Had mine for several months now and they all look new coming out of the dryer.
The rest of the collection is very much a wanna be fashion line, but the breeches are legitimately heavenly.
I second the Maya Delorez!
Try the For Horse Minnie or Emma. They run similar in size to TS- my daughter is curvy and loves the way the feel and fit! They are a little less than Equiline.
How do they do in summer?
My absolute favorite pairs–the Tredstep solo extremes–don’t seem to be in production anymore (does anyone know anyone at Tredstep that I can bribe to remake these breeches again???).
Haven’t worn the Maya Delorez breeches yet in summer, but it’s been warm here the last few days and I think they’re just as great. I don’t feel like they’re stuck to me, or that I have to peel them off, or that I’m baking in them. They’re still very comfortable. They’re high waisted, no zippers or closures you have to fasten, just a whole lot of compression goodness. Like…you pull them out of the bag and think “Oh no, no way these are going to fit, they’re tiny.” Just put them on. Then be awed by the unicorn breeches of snuggly cloud comfort.
