Breeches for a TALL rider

Anyone have recommendations for breeches for a TALL (6’0”) very leggy rider? I am 5’1” on a good day, short legged, and always have to fold my sock bottom breeches up. One of my students is 16, 6’0” tall, with incredibly long model-esque legs, and I have no recommendations for her. Any ideas?! If only I could give her the 4” I always fold up…

I should add… it’s not only the length, but the knee patches just don’t hit her in the right spots either.

Pikeur used to run quite long, I am 5’4" and their regular length used to come to the top of my foot, so I would imagine their “long” length might be sufficient for your student. I haven’t bought any breeches in several years though, so its possible they have changed their breeches.

BAC you are correct, Pikeur is serious when they say ‘L’ !
I wear longs in most brands, in Pikeurs I have to fold them up, although the rest of the breech fits fine.

I am 6’ and long all over. I wear Tailored Sportsmans in the long size. I will say the knee patches do tend to come pretty far up on the inside of my leg, but also go down below the tops of my boots, so it works! They might be a less expensive option than the Pikeurs. I also think the Smartpak brand breeches come in longs for another cost efficient option.

Romfh Sarafinas for sure, and Gabriellas are worth a look as well (they are a low-rise, so I haven’t tried them on)

I am also very tall and all legs! TS in L are ok with boots on, otherwise they show about 3-4 inches of my ankle area. Romfh Sarafinas are quite long and I like them a lot. In a better price point- the SP Hadleys in the long sizes aren’t bad. Not perfect, but you can’t tell with boots I can often get the on sale around $50-60. If she can snag some Kingslands on sale (Riding Warehouse maybe?) they run really long, I have 3 pairs that I quite like. They are also the low rise style which is popular with teens.

Thanks all! Rider is currently wearing Pipers (the Longs), but she still has 4-5" of room at the bottom. I will suggest the Kingslands, Romph, or Pikeurs. Definitely looking at a mid-price point

The TS longs knee is fine, but the velcro calf closure comes up high on me (they are still my go to breech); Equiline and Samshield also are good for long legs but so $$$. I did just get a pair of Aztec Diamond breeches for under $100 and they fit nicely

My giant kiddo (5’11", size 11 feet, and 13 years old) is in love with Smartpak Pipers in long. She is pretty proportionate though, so perhaps that is why they fit? She also just wears tall socks and makes do

This girl has like a 36" or 38" inseam, plus is very slender with no curves (pretty much a model body). We’re talking ALL leg!

36" inseam here! Does she also have to get custom boots? I have never found off-the-rack tall boots that are tall enough for my legs, much to my wallet’s dismay

As someone who is also 6’, I can say my favourite breeches are the Elation Brooklyn, Hudson (full seat), and Chelsea breeches from Greenhawk in Canada. A lot of my height comes from having quite a long femur so knee patches never sit quite right on me, but all of these at least come bellow the top of my boot. And length wise they all come real close to my actual ankle

34" inseam here and I’d just like to caution against assuming that all L breeches are actually long in the LEG. I find that many of them are long in the rise, instead.

I have never assumed that breeches were supposed to go all the way down to my ankles (are they?), but I used to buy L to try to get them closer to the ankle than the knee. In the past few years, I started to realize that they were just bunching at my waist, so I switched back to the Rs. Some brands (Hadley, Kerrits, Tuff Rider) seem to be longer than others…my Kerrits breeches (of different types) are the ones that come closest to my ankles. I also have a few pair of Ovation Celebrity that come respectably close.

Tailored Sportsman hit me mid-shin, across the board.

SAME! Saggy crotch is WAY worse than a little skin by the ankle

36" inseam here - I wear regular length breeches and tall socks to make up the difference. I literally have never considered where exactly the knee patch was supposed to hit my body until this thread! I guess it hits high on my inner leg, has obviously never bothered me…

I’m 6’ with long femurs. Th only breeches that fit me are the equiline. Look on second hand sites or European retailers for better pricing, mine have lasted a long time!

Ok, reviving this thread from last month, because my tall rider now needs a new coat, her arms are too long for last season’s coat! Any budget friendly (i.e. less than $250, ideally) show coats for a tall/very slender rider?

Equilines are long, I’m 5’7 (all legs and built like a boy) and they are too long for me. Order them from Europe from Myselleria for a more budget friendly option.

The Allesandro Albanese motion lite coat also runs long, I ordered an XS and am usually a 2T or 4T and it hits me longer than I like. I wish I had gotten the XXS small.

Yes I ride in an Equiline coat most of the time and it fits me off the rack. Ordering from europe is much cheaper. Motion lite is my only other coat option, and they are not too expensive. the arms are long for sure.

RJ Classics can be pretty long in the arms/body. I used to always have to buy tall/long coats, but I can go down to a regular with theirs (perhaps dependent on model as well). I’m about 5’10 with gorilla arms. The MotionLite coat borders on a touch too short for me, but I still love them enough to wear them constantly!

The Tailored Sportsmans with the new sock on the bottom (not velcro), in long.
