i have just started riding again after a number of years off and need some new breeches because the 28/30" no longer fit!

I had bought a pair of struck breeches a while ago, and while they fit well, they are a little out of my price range to be buying multiple pairs (i like to have 2 or 3 pairs). I also have in the past had tailord’s but with the Velcro bottom so I have needed the longs so it didn’t dig into my leg and they are almost impossible to find without special ordering them, they are also getting up there in price too.

So, I have been trying on other breeches and have been having a hard time getting them over my calf (which is a 17").

Do you have ant suggestions of breeches that you have found work for you? Under $200

Thank you in advance!

Hi @Such Life !

I’m tall too and I really like Romfh Sarafinas. The longs are super long and they are very comfy and flattering. They are mid rise, and have a more substantial fabric to cover lumps and bumps, without being hot. Good luck in your search!

Thank you! I will have a look at these!

B Vertigo makes some really nice pants that run really long. I am 5’2 and either have to have like 5" cut off the bottom or just can’t wear their pants.

Try the Ovation Celebrity Slim Secrets. They’re getting tough to find, which makes me wonder if they even still make them, but some retailers still carry them. They come in 32/34/36, etc and they come in L sizes. I prefer the Euro Seat but I see more Full Seat options for sale available online.

I am in your size range and really like my Ariats. I have success with the Pro Circuit and Olympia breeches in “L” length.
Not sure if the calves are quite wide enough but they are pretty stretchy and I think they should be worth a try for you.

Check out the SmartPak Hadley breeches also, they are very comfortable and come in a full range of sizes if the length works for you (I am 5’9" with long legs and they are plenty long for me). I also like the Ovation Slim Secret breeches but feel like their sizing runs a little on the small side FYI.

Sounds like we are about the same size. The best fit I have found is Piper brand. I liked the knit mid rise but not sure if they make them anymore. Low rise just don’t work for me. My favorite schooling tights are Tropical Rider. They are super comfortable and she can make them in custom sizes if necessary. She has sales quite often for big discounts.

Are you in Canada by chance? Barhs carries struck, and they have a loyalty program. If they fit great it might soften the blow to accumulate points while you drop $300 a pair. Just a thought. Strucks are my favourite too.

I ride in a brand from Sweden, Aisling.

They ship quickly and their clothes are gorgeous. I think they run true to size, and they offer measurements for all of their items.

I love FITS breeches. You can find them on sale under $200, but they are great for tall and they are very forgiving on sizing because it is yoga pant material. They hold up really well too.

I bought a pair of Piper knits in Long length because I normally wear longs and they are VERY long and comfortable too. The silicone full seat is nice and sticky! https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/piper-knit-midrise-breeches-by-smartpak--full-seat--clearance-18349
