Breeches for the "chicken leg" rider

Can anyone recommend breeches that are a good fit for a petite/short rider with skinny legs? Most breeches are very baggy around the knee for me. Prefer higher quality brands. Generally Pikeur breeches have fit me very well, but since some weight loss, now I find they are very loose in the leg as well. Horze, QHP, Cavallo are all very baggy on my legs as well. Struck seems to be the only breeches stretchy enough for me, but would like some other option.

Animo would be my first pick if money is no object. They truly are on the thin side and quite stretchy.
Tailor Sportsman are also pretty straight.

Have you considered child breeches?

Is there a particular Animo model you recommend? I tried some Animo breeches at our local Greenhawk store and they were HUGE and baggy. I believe they were the Noa model. Hadn’t thought about children’s breeches, but that’s a great idea! Probably cheaper too.

Have you tried Struck breeches? A Canadian company too, prices/quality on par with Pikeur…

Eurostar. Especially the airflow and arista models.

I have this problem!! I tend to like tights overall. I think the best overall that have fit breeches wise is Good rider

Have you tried on the Elation Chelsea breeches at Greenhawk? They just came out with a full seat version, and the knee patch have been around a couple years.

I’ve got a couple pairs of the knee patch breeches, and I like the tech fabric. They are definitely a closer-fitting breech than many others I’ve tried, and I also have chicken legs.

ETA - also try the Tredstep breeches. I’ve got a pair and like those too. I will say though that I’m so used to the bagginess behind the knee that I don’t notice it that much any more…but these and the Chelsea are definitely better.

I know the OP mentioned breeches, but I was about to mention rights as well. That is mostly what my very slender friend wears and fits.

I have seen some nice girls breeches from time to time, so if you can fit into those, I think that’d be an option too.

I also like the slim fit of the Elation Chelsea. I’ve also found they wash very well.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you can go by brand - different models fit differently. I have very thin calves - and generally find that Easy Rider (Euro Star) fits well, as do some of the HKM breeches. Some of the Cavallos fit, some don’t. I would agree that Goode Rider tends to be for thin legs - but they are also LOW cut - even their “mid rise” is very low. Kerrits tends to be small in the leg (and small overall). Best bet is to go to a show or Expo and try everything on - and buy what fits. Depressing, but true.

Dover now has free return shipping for any thing that needs to “fit” (which includes breeches), and SmartPak allows free return shipping on most things too. So does Riding Warehouse. Finding breeches that fit can be a hassle if you don’t have the perfect body!
