I am a size 16-18 and 36” inseam in most brands of jeans, for reference. I am pretty curvy with a narrower waist and very thick thighs and calves. I keep having the problem when buying breeches that if they fit my legs there are several inches of gapping around my waist and lots of baggy/sagging around my butt, lower stomach, and hip regions. Even with a belt they look terrible and feel even worse. I basically need a size 18 leg with a size 16 waist. Are there any brands that fit thick legs/narrow waist, long length, and size inclusive? Oh and a nice grippy full seat!
Maybe try Men’s breeches?
They won’t be cut so the waist measurement is greatly different than the hip/thigh.
I used to get a Men’s style because - unlike the Women’s version of the same brand - it had actual pockets in front. Not the useless zipped shallow excuses for pockets, real pockets you could put something in.
I have pretty thick legs and have had the best luck with Ariat breeches: https://www.ariat.com/10043468_195696466770.html. They are a lower rise though, so if you like higher they probably won’t work for you. They also come in full seat.
Being built similarly to OP, men’s breeches would be exactly the opposite of what she needs. Think more like “curvy fit” jeans for women with small waists and more junk in the trunk.
Ovation used to make breeches cut like this but I haven’t seen them in many years. OP, try searching on EBay for Ovation breeches O.NO-158 or J.NO-1788. You will probably want to go down one waist size. I got my last pair a couple of years ago on Ebay. They are a fairly heavy synthetic fabric with some give but not super stretchy, and have knee patches.
I’ll look those up! Yeah men’s breeches would definitely be the opposite of what I need.
Sadly on clearance and it looks like they have discontinued the line. Taxes and shipping may bump the price up to regular price but well worth it, really good curvy fit, high-ish rise with a wide waist band. Love them!

🤷I assumed OP was built like me, not hourglass at all, slimhipped, thighs & lower legs not sylphlike, more athletic.
The Men’s breeches fit me great, YMMV.
Agreed- Ariat Tri-Factors are super stretchy around the calf and generous at the thigh. Try the Long sizes to get a higher rise. That’s what I do and I’m not super tall though my legs are proportionally longer than my torso.
At this point I’m only wearing the Ariat trifactor mentioned above and FITS. Sounds like we have similar body types.
My friend who is similar but about a size 12 swears by Free Rides. Dover sells them now so if you are close to a store, give them a try.
