Hello, I consider myself to be a fairly modest person and it drives me crazy that my breeches show a little more outline than I’d care for them to. Could anyone recommend a pair that are thicker? I love Kerrits and have several pairs (flow rise and microcord) all of which show VPL or are even see-through! What are baker breeches like?
I know what you mean. I love my Kerrits tights, but there’s definitely a camel toe factor The only thing that really works for me is regular breeches in a size to two bigger. Dark colors show less too. Or use a heavier weight pair of regular yoga pants (Prana makes nice ones) if you are OK without knee patches. And there’s always full chaps over something you’re comfortable with.
Kentucky jods are much less obscene; not so stretchty-tight.
Irideon makes (or made) a boot-cut style. They’re still fairly tight at the top, but not clinging all the way down. Buy a size up and they fit more like normal pants with some stretch than skintight leggings.
Get some gorgeous old school flared breeches. Horse Country Saddlery has a great selection from mildly pleated to hugely flared. So much more flattering on most of us than skin tight; and very modest
My weightier breeches are Tuff Rider
I also have some plaid Treadstones that are great but I don’t know how they compare to other Treadstones
Buy larger sizes than your usual pants purchases. Doesn’t seem to matter how slender you are, breeches are cut way too tight for you in your correct pant size. Dressing my son and daughter, I always bought the breeches in 2 sizes larger, still had no bagging or saggy waists. They had no issue getting breeches on and off, no indecent exposure or VPL. Son especially hated any kind of pants that fit tightly, would not have ridden with tight breeches.
Not sure why breeches makers do this unless it saves them THAT MUCH in fabric, to make such tight fitting breeches.
Agree, just buy a larger size and let them be a little baggy.
My Romfh pants are pretty thick (though not hot in the summer), but they do run small (I have to size up from my other breeches and they still fit snugly, so you will probably have to size up a few times to have them loose.) Also, I find that tights are much more revealing than breeches…
What about Tailored Sportsman? Or Tropical Rider?
Devon-Aire’s new Signature line. They are a stretchy woven, and are a bit thicker than the tights.
And they come in great colors!
I wear these - irideon has a pair of tights with a skirt so your bum and other bits are covered at all times. I wear them all summer.

Those are tight, because they’re tights. Get actual breeches, instead of tights, and you won’t have that problem. Start with TS, or Ariats, or if better for your budget, something like the Ovation Euroweave or Smartpak Pipers.

And here is the brilliant solution to breeches that are too small. Buy larger ones .
I also find myself looking for breeches that are marketed to ladies with wide hips. I don’t have wide hips, but I like to leave a bit to the imagination in that area so the extra fabric is helpful.
Love the Equine Couture Breeches for the price. . .They also make the Baker Breech you mentioned. They have a thicker fabric, though most have CoolMax so you don’t burn up. I wear them constantly and haven’t killed a pair yet, which is saying something. I did kill the zipper on one, but I caught it on a stirrup somehow (Lord only knows how). I just replaced the pull with a tiny paper clip and its good as new! I can’t justify spending a ton on breeches. I get loads of compliments on these and the price is affordable.
Even if you buy a larger size, usually the fabric is just… not good. Especially tan. THAT’s why we like thicker fabric. Although I really don’t have a problem with the tights because I always buy dark colors and preferably patterns or color block. Sometimes I think I want a pair of tan summer schooling tights and then I think… no…
I hate looking like I forgot to put on pants.
Tights, which you are wearing and many people are suggesting, are meant to fit like tights, as someone else said. They are very thin and unforgiving. Actual breeches will be a thicker material. You can also size up if you wish. The other solution to VPL in any pair of pants is no-show underwear or a thong
I have Tuff Riders that are nice and opaque, and not ridiculously tight. My Smartpak Pipers, though, are definitely the thickest pair I own. They are designed for people without my hips, though. I wear my Pipers pretty tight through the hips and thighs because a size up is huge on my waist. If you’re not so hippy/hourglass shaped, they might be great.
Horze grand prix. I’ve found them to be a good balance between the stretchiness I loved in the kerrits tights, with a thicker fabric (almost like a really thick sweatshirt or double thick yoga pants) that’s more forgiving. and still relatively economically priced.
Tuff Rider in the ribbed fabric.
