I am short and fat. I have a drawer full of breeches that almost fit and have ordered and returned at least a dozen pairs over the past 3 years since I started showing again. The number one reason breeches don’t fit is that the manufacturers seem to think anyone as fat as I am must be 6 feet tall, so the waist ends up somewhere closer to my boobs than to my waist. Even Kerrits new petite plus size breeches are too long waisted for me, although it sure is nice to have legs the right length.
The number two reason breeches don’t fit is that the legs are too tight. I’m fat all over, not an apple with toothpick legs.
I took advantage of Dover’s and SmartPak’s Labor Day sales to, yet again, try on breeches. I ordered 6 pairs, three from each. And hallelujah!! Ding ding ding! We have a winner! So, if you have similar fit problems, here’s your breeches.
Piper Evolution Breeches. There are a bunch of versions of the Evolution breeches, but this is the one I got:

They are on clearance sale right now. I’m not positive, but style # 33063, which is not on sale, seems to be the same breeches, maybe the clearance is last years and not-clearance is this years?
Oddly, the ones I expected to fit, if any did, were the Piper low-rise breeches. Nope. Still too long waisted.
I can’t tell you how wonderful it was to put those breeches on and think, “Hey! These fit!,” when I’m much more accustomed to thinking, “Well, not a great fit, but close enough to get by.”
