Breeches that fit

I am short and fat. I have a drawer full of breeches that almost fit and have ordered and returned at least a dozen pairs over the past 3 years since I started showing again. The number one reason breeches don’t fit is that the manufacturers seem to think anyone as fat as I am must be 6 feet tall, so the waist ends up somewhere closer to my boobs than to my waist. Even Kerrits new petite plus size breeches are too long waisted for me, although it sure is nice to have legs the right length.

The number two reason breeches don’t fit is that the legs are too tight. I’m fat all over, not an apple with toothpick legs.

I took advantage of Dover’s and SmartPak’s Labor Day sales to, yet again, try on breeches. I ordered 6 pairs, three from each. And hallelujah!! Ding ding ding! We have a winner! So, if you have similar fit problems, here’s your breeches.

Piper Evolution Breeches. There are a bunch of versions of the Evolution breeches, but this is the one I got:

They are on clearance sale right now. I’m not positive, but style # 33063, which is not on sale, seems to be the same breeches, maybe the clearance is last years and not-clearance is this years?

Oddly, the ones I expected to fit, if any did, were the Piper low-rise breeches. Nope. Still too long waisted.

I can’t tell you how wonderful it was to put those breeches on and think, “Hey! These fit!,” when I’m much more accustomed to thinking, “Well, not a great fit, but close enough to get by.”

Yay! Love it when you find your breech.
Can you be more specific ? I’m short. 5 foot tall I have a tiny waist and a huge butt and thighs. Small calves. I weigh on a bad day 125. My go to has always been Rompfh. Size 26. I’ve bought and tossed so many breeches I’m gun shy to try anything else. I don’t want breeches I pull up to my tits ( get off my lawn!!) and I don’t want ones that do not cover my Bubble butt either. It’s a struggle. Congrats !

I’m the opposite build from you, small hips and butt (comparatively) and large waist. However, I sympathize with you because I think you are even harder to fit than I am. In all the breeches I have tried on, I don’t think any struck me as potentially being good fits for the tiny waist/large hips person.

Both Dover and SmartPak do have breeches that say “curvy fit” in the description, but I’ve never tried them because I assumed they would not not work for me.

And I totally get the gun shy feeling. Last time I was at Dover, I thought about taking an armload of breeches into the dressing room to try and couldn’t muster up the enthusiasm to do it because it’s just too depressing to go through all that and end up with nothing that fits.

At least now that Dover and Smartpak have free returns, it’s not such a financial hit to order, and then return, stuff that doesn’t fit.
