Breeder named Nancy near Atlanta - had stallion(s)

I am trying to locate a mare named My Silver Lining, but locating the person who bought her is obviously the way to go. The mare is from my breeding program (Murray’s Law-Dranabel x Believe The Queen). I leased the mare and she was bred to my stallion, produced this filly, which the owner sold in 2007 to someone named “Nancy” in Georgia - possibly near Atlanta. She can’t remember the last name, but said she had “stallions” and planned to breed her to a Trakehner stallion this breeder had. I will be checking into TK stallions in that area, but not absolutely certain it was a TK. She said this woman also had some OTTB’s. Any ideas? The full sister is really producing well, so would love to find this mare! TIA

Penny, I would PM Anissa. If Nancy had a TK stallion in that area, Anissa would know her!

There was a Nancy in that area who had GRP stallions. She had cancer and passed away a few years ago. She had made arrangements for her boys to go to a breeder in the Kansas City area. Don’t know if she had any mares.

There was an eventing breeder in Newnan, Georgia named Nancy Gosch who recently died. I don’t know if she was still breeding in 2007, though. I’m pretty sure, though, that she bred TBs exclusively.

Viney, I knew about Nancy Gosch and Wood 'n Horse Stables and asked if that is who it was. But the woman who sold the mare didn’t know and since she’s passed, it’s hard to know who to ask. I did ask Anissa about a Nancy with TK stallions in that area, but she didn’t know of anyone. Chris (GOV) might know of the Nancy that had the GRP stallions. I remember there were some over there being inspected one of the years that I attended. I believe they were actually inspected at their farm. There is or was a TK stallion owner in GA who showed them successfully. I can’t recall her name, but I will look it up – it wasn’t Nancy I don’t think. Thanks!

The Nancy with the GRP’s had three I think. One was something Daily Hero? He was at the 30-day Pony test in 2004 when Cyriz was going through the 100-day. He was amazing.

One of the others, was something like Benno’s Dream???

Seems like Nancy was in the medical field. She was a lovely lady!

Hope you find the mare!

Nancy Gosch was in the Newnan area. She had stallions at one time (a friend bought a young horse from her that had been sired by her stallion, Surly Swain), but that was quite some years ago (early 80’s maybe - ?). When we knew her - used to show at her farm all the time back in the day - she only had TBs. Don’t know if she also had Trakehners later on. She just passed away earlier this month at age 85, and I don’t know if she was still involved in breeding in her later years.

Nancy Ferebee was in Alpharetta. She had been a clinical psychologist before moving to Alpharetta from VA. She stood three GRP stallions - Benno’s Dream, FS Daily Hero, and Chico - that she found in Germany and imported just about the time the German and Dutch riding ponies were becoming known in this country. She did not keep mares (other than her daughter’s retired pony mares), and when she passed away three years ago from pancreatic cancer, her three stallions went to Fox Creek Farm in Kansas.

Chuck and Danny Wharton, and their daughter Laura, had a farm in the Woodstock / Alpharetta areas some years back. They bred Trakehners and had a couple of Trakehner stallions - Justiz and ??? . Chuck and Danny are both gone, and last I heard, Laura was still riding (owns and rides the KWPN gelding Zandor, who was at the top of the USEF Developing Horse rankings for a while last year), but I do not believe she is involved in breeding these days.

Laura no longer has any TK. There is Carol Morgan who stands the TK stallion Fabian (by Justiz). I still can’t think of a TK stallion owner in ATL named Nancy. :frowning:

ETA if the stallion wasn’t approved that might be something else.

Well, at least it’s getting some buzz! I will contact Carol Morgan. I remember Laura Wharton being at the inspection in 2006 near Enterprise or Dothan with some Trakehners, when I took my Thoroughbred mare. So she was probably breeding then. I know she was showing stallions for some time. The farm where we did the inspection was owned by a female doctor who was breeding some Trakehners, and I believe she also presented an OTTB mare that was not approved. I don’t remember who she was, but she didn’t have a stallion, I’m pretty sure. She was going through a divorce I believe, so she may be out of it now. Anissa might know who she is. Joe Pimental was there. Yeah, it could always be an unapproved stallion, I guess. At least the question is out there and maybe we’ll shake her out. Thanks folks – and thanks to the nice lady who sent me an email about contacting Full Cry Farm and Nancy Lane, which I have. Thanks a bunch!!

Pretty sure that inspection was at or near Christy Edwards. She bred Copy Cat Chloe.

Wow! Trip down memory lane! I took my very first dressage lessons with Laura Wharton with my pony-sized Quarter Horse mare. Laura was so nice to me as I had no idea what I was doing when I started with her. I remember being amazed at the TKs at her farm.
