or, keep checking at the SWANA website,

I’m not going to Vegas this time around, but I’ve passed the info on to friends.

Hi: I am wondering if it might be a good idea to also post this in the world cup forum. It might get buried here, and there aren’t so many threads over there.

Oh no! I don’t land until 8:30am on Friday! I would love to get with breeders who are attending, however.

Coffee with Jan Brink? Edward Gal?

Hi,

I have more confirmation re the line-up; this should be an outstanding panel! Speakers (or I think it is a panel to ask questions to) include Jan Brink, Edward Gal and Briar’s breeder, Hans-Yngve Göransson. We will also be hearing from some of the top horse people in Sweden: Jan-Ove Olsson, the vice-president of the stallion commitee, a judge on conformation and gaits; Karl-Henrik Heimdahl, Breeding manager of the national stud of Flyinge, previous president of the stallion , and Bo Jenå, the chef equipe of the national dressage team of Sweden, International judge in dressage and the main teacher of dressage at Flyinge, The National stud of Sweden. We hope to have some other top international riders as well… Really an incredible panel.

Also–everyone is welcome! If you love dressage, or jumping, or horse breeding, this will a really fun, educational event right before the dressage starts on Friday. The only thing you need is a ticket to the dressage… although this event is through the combined efforts of both the Swedish and KWPN studbooks, we will be discussing all sorts of things about horse breeding and what these top competitors look for.

For SWANA members (and former members, or anyone interested in SWANA) -we hope to have several get-togethers–check back for more info, or email me.

Thanks, hope to see you there!

Swedish Studbook Hosts Best of Three Worlds Breeders’ Meeting
April 17 at the World Cup Finals
Sign Up to Win a Breeding to Briar 899 or a County Saddle

Las Vegas, NV–The Swedish Studbook (ASVH) welcomes guests to a unique breeders’ meeting at the Thomas & Mack Arena on Friday April 17. The event kicks off at 8:00 a.m. sharp during the Rolex FEI World Cup Finals in Las Vegas. The ASVH hopes to create an inspiring experience for breeders across borders. Best of Three Worlds has been chosen for the theme for this meeting as international guests arrive from Sweden, the Netherlands, and, of course, the U.S.A. The vice president of the studbook’s Stallion Committee, Jan-Ove Olsson, will represent the ASVH in Las Vegas.

The Swedish Studbook, in cooperation with Karin Reid Offield, owner of the breeding stallion Lingh, invites everyone interested in learning about breeding to attend this great event. Attendees will enjoy the unique behind the scènes setting of the early morning warm-up of the World Cup Finals, which was arranged with the help of Las Vegas Events, producers of the show. Attendees must have a ticket to the dressage session on Friday to attend the breeders’ meeting. (The box office will open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning for last minute ticket sales.)

Both dressage and jumping breeders will find topics and speakers of interest. Subjects include the development of breeding internationally, relationships between studbooks and countries, management of top horses in breeding and cooperation between breeders and riders. Top riders, trainers and owners from around the world have confirmed their attendance at the meeting. The commercial issues of the breeding world will also be discussed, including the importance of export, active efforts in marketing and establishing contacts. The sessions will be interactive with attendees invited to ask questions of the speakers.

As special invited guest speakers, the Royal Dutch Warmblood Studbook (KWPN) and the Swedish Warmblood Association of North America (SWANA) will share information about their systems and organizations. Points of interest include, the future development of the American sporthorse breeding market and how to encourage young equestrians to become breeders.

Flyinge, the Swedish National Stud, will also make a special presentation. The newly appointed breeding manager, Karl-Henrik Heimdahl, will share Flyinge’s vision of the future. Flyinge will also participate this fall in the hosting of the annual meeting of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBSFH) and is proud to take an active role in international breeding.

Meeting attendees have a chance to win a County Saddle, the saddle recommended by the winner of the 2005 Las Vegas World Cup Grand Prix–Lingh himself. In addition, a breeding to Briar 899 has been donated by the stallion’s breeder and owner Hans-Yngve Göransson. Briar has competed in eight World Cups, three Olympic Games, four European Championships and two World Championships. Stop by booth 405 (Tailwinds Farm) in the Cox Pavilion in the Thomas & Mack Center to register to win the saddle and the breeding to Briar 899.

Breeding has become an essential part of the modern equestrian culture and the 2009 ASVH Breeders’ Meeting showcases the best of the three worlds and will hopefully create a new way of including breeders in international equestrian events in the future.

An educational and entertaining encounter for everyone sharing an interest in sport horse breeding begins Friday morning April 17 at the Thomas & Mack Center. Join us 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. at arena section 227, balcony level.

For those enthusiasts seeking even more time to explore their passion, they can visit Harrah’s, the host hotel for the AVSH. Breeders can gather for late dinners and discussions of each day’s events. There is a SWANA members cocktail party at 4:00-6:00 pm on Saturday at the Embassy Suites. Karl-Henrick Heimdahl, Jan-Ove Olsson and Bo Jena will be there!
