I have a mare by Ferro and I know that he’s a fantastic dressage sire, but he has good jumping bloodlines (and I think he competed in jumpers prior to dressage–something like 4’ or 4’6"?).
The mare is a Keur Elite KWPN mare who is a half sister to two GP jumpers, Poseidon and Pako, both by Farmer. Pako competed internationally with Richard Spooner.
Here is her pedigree: http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?i=10513178
Her dam, Epris, has some good jumping and multi-purpose lines.
I have had a couple jumper breeders sort of hint that breeding a Ferro mare for jumpers is a bad idea…
So I guess I’m asking if anybody has done that, and how it worked out?
Also open to hearing stallion suggestions? It would need to be fresh; Rozet’s previous owner spent like one jillion dollars on frozen semen for her and never got a single pregnancy. I bred her with fresh and she took immediately and had an uneventful pregnancy. Soooo…no way am I brave enough for frozen, lol.
