Breeding Advice - Clarimo Holsteiner Mare

Hi -

I am looking breeding suggestions for a Clarimo mare. Her pedigree is Clarimo - SIR SHOSTAKOVICH - Othello. She is 55% blood, scopey, careful, and a very sweet deamnor. She is smallish only 16H at 3 coming 4, but I am not looking to breed a giant but adding a bit of height and length of leg would be nice. Her gaits are nice but nothing amazing, so ideally they could use improvement.

Here is her full pedigree:

And here is a video of her second time free jumping:

Ideally I would like to stick to stallions that are approved Holsteiner so I don’t have registration issues. I am fine using frozen semen. So to summarize I would like to add a bit of height, movement, and scope. Any suggestions?

Her breeder suggested Con Air, Cornet Obolensky and Big Star. Her maternal half sister by Concerto II was VDL Groep Castella but obviously Concerto II semen is not available.

I have always loved Nekton but do not anything about how he throws. Another that I was considering is Cachas.

Thank you for your help!

Coronet Obelensky has very expensive and very risky semen (terrible quality) and Big Star is $7,500/dose- pricey for a maiden mare. The Con Air suggestion makes sense, keeping the Contender up close as Concerto I and II produced exceedingly well with her dam.

Chin Quidam (Chin Chin / QDR / Landgraf ) might work for this mare. Best 7 yr old in the world last year and now approved AHHA.

I think one of your best bets would be Lotus T. Lotus is an incredibly pre-potent stallion, producing horses with amazing jump and powerful, super-elsstic gaits. Not only that the resulting foal would be a classic L x C cross, but you would preserve the blood (Lotus has high % TB blood as well). Lotus consistently gives substance and height to his offspring and a very elegant, leggy type
as well. Interestingly, Lotus has produced a great number of top-notch jumpers and dressage horses out of Stauffenberg mares (Stauffenberg was a Verband stallion by Sir Soshtakovich).
I could send you videos/pictures of those horses. Of course, Lotus is Holsteiner approved.

I suggest Crown Affair. I have a mare in foal to him due in April. The breeder - Wild Turkey Farm - was easy to work with and the semen was good. She caught right away. Reasonable fees, too. He is not as “proven” as a stallion as some, but his get are coming into their own and are really looking good. His sire and damside bloodlines are impeccable (he is a Cor de la Bryere out of a Capitol I mare). Have fun with your search!!

I saw him two years ago when he was on the West Coast. I was so impressed by him that even though I was a field away, I walked over to the ring that he was competing in. Then I waited 35 mins to see his jump off round. I remember him being like solid muscle and so athletic. At the time he was competing in the 1.35m. Does he have any foals on the ground?

Yes, he does. Google him and they will come up. I am not a breeder, just an individual who wants to have the horse of my lifetime! I decided on him finally when my trainer said she had seen him in person and fell in love. Everything I have studied about him after has made me VERY excited for April to come!!! He also has a Facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/groups/106283159404484/?ref=ts&fref=ts
