Briar Hill Farm

Anyone have any experience with Briar Hill Farm in Vermont that breed Fjords and Dales? Am looking at a horse there and after seeing scary reviews on another place nearby i was looking at figured i should do some background checking (so if you are the owner and read this know i am just doing my due diligence ;)).

I know them well, I worked there for a summer in college (2003) and am still in touch. They are phenomenal horse people, excellent breeders and trainers. Their stallion Duke is incredible and they breed to high quality mares. Marcy’s training approach is kind, patient, and thorough. You will not find any quick fixes or holes in their horses’ training. Can’t speak highly enough of them! Feel free to pm me if you want to chat more. I can connect you with another close contact as well.

Thank you so much! Marcy was incredibly helpful and i was very impressed with the slow and lovely work she seems to be doing on a young horse she has listed for sale I was very interested in - Dale/Welsh cross. Given her location was a 4 hour drive for me (so would have been a 8 hour total drive) she was so honest and forthcoming it became clear the horse is greener than i am looking for now. I need a ripe and seasoned after going through green with 3 and now being over 50 years. In my current search i have encountered some dishonest folks selling horses and Marcy was refreshing. I just wish she had a Fjord or Dale gelding around 10-15 yrs for me! And she seems to breed very athletic ones like I am looking for that can do some jumping (not too high) and have solid minds. I have one that is my daughter’s so we need a matched set for me :). I will keep following Marcy and see what she has. Thanks for the referral!! That was my cut.

Totally understand- too bad nothing worked for now! She has a lot of close breeder contacts, so hopefully she’ll let you know if she hears of anything. I can’t speak highly enough of her and Susan, real gems in the horse world and really work to make good pairs for the benefit of both horses and riders. Good luck with your search!

I agree with the previous review. I also worked here for a summer during college quite a few years ago. I refuse to count how many…

They’re good horse people and do right by the horses and their development.
