Bridges!

So I have an arena-ette. It is 50X50. Enough to get a walk and a trot in. However it is a bit sloped and will need to be leveled. However, because of the slope of the land I will need to create a dry creek bed through the arena to allow the water to wash through when it rains and not take all my arena with it.

I was thinking it would be nice to make a couple of bridges over the creek beds and wondered if anyone had ever built an actual bridge in their arena?

I would of course be using the bridge as I ride in the arena so it would need to be wide enough to accommodate the horse and allow for a trot over the bridge without having to stop to navigate it.

What are the thoughts on having a bridge in your riding path in your arena?

Can you not ditch the water around your arena, having raised it a little when leveling ?

Actually…I had something all typed out, but then I had a great idea.

When I raise and level the arena I can bring it up a little in the back and create a little valley like area that I can then divert the water around the pasture into the pond. So… I could make the dry creek bed along the fence line, under the fence (It’s a buck fence) and have a bridge between the pasture and the arena and the arena would be dry all the time.

Good idea, Thanks!

I love being able to do this because sometimes thinking outloud with other people can bring you other ideas.
