Bright solar powered lights?

Any suggestions before I go shopping? I need some bright solar powered lights for my horse paddocks. The light I currently have runs on an extension cord and that’s fine for temporary use but not really a permanent solution.

What purpose do they need to serve? Before I recommend what I have on two sheds it would help to know what you need to accomplish

I need light when I go out to feed at night. We have a couple large holes out there from erosion and I’d rather not trip in them. My neighbor is coming next week to take care of the holes with the tractor but I definitely need to get more light out there. It’s about 1/4th of an acre where the front of the paddocks are.

My house is on a hill which is great because it doesn’t flood but erosion is a never ending problem.

I bought some just like these about a year ago. LOVE THEM. We have one over the door to our well house, one at the gate door to a wee run-in and one at the corner of a fence. Bright enough but not blindingly so.

The Power Company put in some security lights in one paddock - the light was supposed to be for my house but it works best for the paddock and area between the barn and house. I did not have to pay for the lights, pole or putting the light up. I do have to pay about $11 a month for the service and it is worth it to me to have that light down there. Does your power company have that service so you can price it versus putting your own light up?

Can you just switch them on/off when needed? I’d love to add some light to my dry lot for poop picking, but I don’t want motion sensor lights or lights on all the time. I have some floodlights shining there off the barn, but the light doesn’t quite reach some dark corners.

Unfortunately the power pole is on the opposite side of the house so no luck there.

These look pretty cool, and they come with a remote

Usually when they put in a security light, they run the power to wherever you want a pole.

I got some 1200W solar lights with a remote from Amazon. (Jackyled) At first they only had one in stock. When it arrived, I held it up by my arena (60x140) and it looked like it would light up at least half of it. I ordered another (now about $110) and haven’t put them up yet.

For OP’s purpose 600W might be more than enough. I used a headlamp to see at night when my horses were at home before, but I wished I had an overhead light when the horses got rowdy.

I use these. I’ve had some of them up for 3 years all year round in rain and during snow. You can set them at dusk to dawn or use a remote to turn them on and off when you need them. I have one in an area I keep my chickens, it lights the area up enough to do basic chores like water, feed, coop cleaning, etc at night. I also have several in my outdoor arena and use them to ride after dark.
