British dressage team, the question people should be asking!

What ARE those orange athletic shoes they’re all wearing in the casual pics? Are they magical, the real secret to Team Hester’s success? Or just not so subtle team gear?

I missed them, is there a picture somewhere? Maybe we all need to be wearing them around the barn!

Do any non equestrian athletes have them? They could be part of the official Olympic outfits the entire team gets. Like Ralph Lauren does for the US.

I think they are the British equivalent of the Americans’ chartreuse ones.

I read that they were designed by Stella McCartney.

I just read that their shoes for the Closing Ceremony will flash red, white, and blue. (Which will be one up on the US team’s red-white-and-blue deck shoes in the Opening Ceremony.)

I heard they lost a bet to the Dutch.

Well, I did see a photo of Jodie Williams with others modeling these shoes. Does that make her Jodie Williams-of-Orange?

The article was interesting (even though I know you posted it for the footwear). I have been wondering the “medals won/size of team” and that is what the article talks about.

US is #1 whether it is total medals or medals as a % of size of team. For our Canadian friends, sadly you are last in the % won. :frowning: Evidently the goal for this year was to win 18 medals which would bring Canada into the top 12 nations of medals won.

How did Canada fare? I hope they reached their goal.

Even if they didn’t, I am sure they were very polite about it, eh?

slightly off-thread: what are the large gold medallions the dressage team have on their shadbellies showing a dressage horse in piaffe (as far as I can tell from the pictures)

Am I the only one who would have liked to go canoeing with any of those Canadian rowers of 2008?

Instead of advertising the USA, our athletes advertised Ralph Lauren and Nike. Makes me sick.

I hear you.

Did any of the USA athletes look good in those awful shirts under blazers? Could they have found a more unflattering look for a bunch of attractive, healthy, vibrant people?

We won 22! And finished in 10th spot. Lots of National records, our women rocked! Our young female swimmers were killing it. Pretty happy!
