Broken FreeJump Stirrup?

So I have been thinking about getting a pair of the freejumps because I like that they could keep me from being dragged. However, I was looking at the design and it looks like there is a major load point in the stirrup right at the footbed connection. So I decided to research into this and found this

It sounds like a fluke but I just want to make sure. Anyone else has had/know of these stirrups breaking?

I just saw something on Facebook about the same thing happening to an event rider using those stirrups.

Thanks for posting that, I missed that one. These stirrups breaking is starting to look less and less like a fluke…

I have the cage that goes on the front of your own stirrup. I don’t know what it is called but honestly think that noone should ride without it. It is legal in Dressage

I will look into those. I ride jumpers and hunters (not with composite stirrups though) and am unsure if these are allowed. Definitely not in the hunter ring. Maybe for schooling though!

I’ve seen two instances where the stirrups appeared to break or fall off the saddle completely. Since I saw both instances via livestream it was hard to tell if this was a flaw in the stirrup itself or the leather. Once was in the Saut Hermes Grand Prix this year - the stirrup appeared to snap and just fall right off the saddle. The second was just this past week at Old Salem, the leather looked like it came off the saddle. I’m not a huge fan of the look of these stirrups and after hearing/seeing instances of them falling off of saddles I’d be a little weary of buying them

These would do the same and you definitely don’t have to worry about them breaking

I had no idea that the freejumps were breaking. I don’t think I could ride in stirrups knowing they could break. I think it would always sort of sit in the back of my mind and affect my riding

OMG I love those. I have never seen that brand before. I actually wanted the JIN stirrups but decided the free jump would be better because of the safety factor, but these are like the JIN and the freejump combined!!

I’ve never seen this brand either and only opened in December so can’t comment if they’re just new or just lesser known. But they just came out with these stirrups this year. My rep brought one in and they were awesome. I’ve sold a couple pairs of their regular non safety stirrups and people really like them for the ankle and knee relief. I’ve been meaning to try them out myself
