Bromont/Air Quality

I’ve never been to Bromont and I’m terrible at geography, so please excuse the question, but are the wildfires in Canada going to affect the horses and riders there? I did find a “provisional summary” from the Canadian government that describes the risk for outdoor activities in Quebec as “low”… The air quality here in much of New York is poor, so it is the smoke drifting south? Thanks!

It looks like the way the wind is blowing, the smoke is going juuuuust around that corner of Quebec and coming right on down to NY.

Don’t worry, it’s hitting a fair chuck of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec along the way, Montreal is pretty bad this morning too.

Thanks for posting this. Besides air quality, how close are the grounds to actual fires? I watched in fear as fires in CA a couple of years ago necessitated the evacuation of a race training center near a friend’s vet practice. I hope that doesn’t happen anywhere, ever again.

The actual fires are far away, and the general wind flows seem to be taking the smoke downwards and to the left.

Bromont is about under the big blue dot. (Red are out of control, orange are controlled fires)

Plantation just posted that they will monitor air quality and postpone or cancel if necessary. Apparently the USEF recommendation is to cancel if the AQI is above 150.

Thank you!

I’m sure Bromont will be following EC protocol.

Looking at today’s air quality map, the AQI at Bromont is currently WAY better than it is in the mid-Atlantic.

They are very lucky! Somehow the smoke is missing them so far. We have a day off today, supposed to be back tomorrow. Of course we had mostly cloud today and some rain, hopefully they got a great downpour in Quebec.

Bromont is east of Montreal, above Vermont and New Hampshire, in the green.

Meanwhile, I’m in the red down on the Delmarva peninsula.

I live in Indiana. They were advising people in my state that had respiratory issues to stay indoors. Crazy.
