Browband Concho?

Hello! Venturing over from the H/J forum. I have recently taken up an interest in endurance (as in two days ago) since my little Paint/Arabian does not have any desire to jump.

I’ve been looking at bridles on The Distance Depot and don’t understand what exactly a browband concho is. I couldn’t find any pictures on their website and all google showed was a decorative piece in the center of the browband. Are all conchos in the center or can they be on the sides?

This is the bridle I’m looking at. The simplest option seems to be a brass plated square loop or solid brass round. Could someone describe these or post a picture of what they look like?

Also, has anyone had experience with this bridle/company? I plan to purchase in the next month or so and would love any recommendations! Thanks in advance!

The ornamental pieces found on the sides of the browband are actually called rosettes Perhaps someone is using the word concho incorrectly. A concho would be an ornament, which could perhaps be found in the center of a browband. They’re found on western saddles, as “slides” for scarves, and on the backs of western chaps as ornaments. It looks like a nicely made bridle and “Beta” is great stuff. There are no conchos on this bridle, just the little metal “keepers” on the ends of the browband which keep the crown piece and the throatlatch separated. These keepers could be replaced with rosettes for a little extra bling.

@dogpatch Gotcha! I figured they were probably more common in western tack, since all the bright colors and bling are allowed so thank you for clearing that up! Glad to learn something new:D

I am so happy to help! Have a great time with your new pursuits!!

Scroll down to the picture of the fleabitten grey and you’ll see an example of the concho.

I have had several pieces of Distance Depot and tack. They’re good quality and last forever. I also like Taylored Tack and Hought. Both are a bit more expensive but offer different options.

@dogpatch Thank you:D

@GreyDes Ah, I see it now! And great, I’ll definitely check out the others as well. Thank you!

I know this is a month old, but for a variety of rosettes look at carriage driving catalogs. They are on almost every driving bridle and come in plain brass, chrome or stainless or you can get a variety of initials or other engraving. They even have glass ones with horseheads or other scenes on them in several colors.
