Hi all! Looking for a brown (snaffle) dressage bridle under $300 (excluding reins), no flash necessary. Looking for something with full sizing info (measurements) available as he’s between full and warmblood depending on the brand. He has a huge blaze so not looking for flashy padding. Show me your favourites! (PS, I’m in Canada.) Thanks!
I have two from Premiera that I got from Hypostore. Collectively the two cost your budget, I think, and they’re quite nice for that price with exchange. They do have padding and patent though.
My nice, plain brown bridle is a Stubben Switch, which is probably around that budget purchased from an overseas seller.
Have you checked out Solo equine?
I have, and they look beautiful, but on their website it appears they only come in black!
I know they are experiencing some supply interruptions due to COVID. I am looking to buy one too right now (I already have two) and out of stock… if you can wait they are lovely!!
I just purchased a Passier Blu Spirit Snaffle from Bits n Such and was blown away by the quality. Straight out of the bag it has that rich patina and heavy feel of quality leather. It is one of the nicer bridles I’ve purchased in a really long time. I’ve found that ultra soft new bridles often turn mushy and unstructured in quick order. Out of the bag this one feels smoothly malleable with very nice stitching.
It does have a flash but at $250 it was such a steal of a deal I’m just getting the flash loop removed locally.
Another store couldn’t get the Passier in but she compared 5 brown dressage bridle options for me and said Passier was by far the nicest in my budget (sub $300).

The Collected Pony carries a number of the brown Passier bridles in stock. Also note: Passier bridles (in my opinion) run HUGE.

If you have questions, the owner is very nice, knowledgeable, and responsive. I bought two brown Passier bridles from her
Why can’t you get one of those gorgeous hunter bridles? Unless you absolutely need a crank noseband there is no functional difference.
Equiture sells BR bridle parts and most come in brown. Price is really reasonable, including shipping from the UK.
Thanks everyone! @GraceLikeRain, that Passier looks gorgeous - I’m intrigued by the shipping possibilities as can’t seem to find that model at any Canadian stores. Will check out your suggestion also, @jvk8!
I am a hunter convert and have a nice hunter bridle already, the styling is quite different. I’d like to retire that one to be my hacking/conditioning bridle, so thought it would be cool if my now-dressage horse could look the part!
Solo Equine - although it looks like the Stellar is the only one in stock in brown right now. I have the Stellar in black with white padding and love it.
Try Halter Ego, that’s where I got mine.
I have a Kieffer Perseus in brown for sale. Only been used for a couple of months, but doesn’t fit my new horse. Let me know if you’re interested, and I’ll send photos. Here’s the style: https://kiefferusa.net/collections/b…snaffle-bridle
Great suggestions, thanks everyone! @SBrentnall thank you for the offer, just not keen on the integrated flash. Appreciate it though!
Have you seen the Dy’on? It’s close to your price range if you order from Europe - http://www.dyon.be/gb/bridles/231-br…pull-back.html
Eponia is also worth a look and the flash is removable - https://www.eponiaequestriansport.com/produkt/dressage-bridle-2/
I second the recommendation for Solo Equine. Very nice bridles for a good price. I got ine this spring and am very happy. Great service and fast shipping frkm Canada. Be sure to select the USD on the site or it will show price in Canadian which makes it look higher.
Another vote for Solo! And they are in Canada. Send Stephen a message and ask about colors. I have the brown with black trim bridle (perhaps the Stellar). It looks great on my Pinto with a huge blaze. He is technically black and white, but in the summer is brown and white.
I also suggest sending Stephen an email (Solo). I’ve got an all-brown bridle from him that wasn’t on the website. At that time, he had several models available in brown but his stock had sold out within days of arriving and I missed it. He checked his warehouse and found one extra. He may also be able to piece together something for you that’s not one of the “official” styles on the site, but he may have enough extra pieces. His customer service was excellent when I bought mine.
I think you guys have convinced me on the Solo! I messaged him last night with a couple of questions and he responded basically instantly. Thanks @joiedevie99 for pointing out the Stellar as it was the only one I hadn’t looked at. If I pull the trigger, will return with photos!
It might be too late since you mentioned you’re thinking Solo, but I’ll plug for Eponia if Solo doesn’t work for you.
I have the Eponia Cookie bridle in brown / patent, and I get tons of compliments on it. It’s worn pretty well and still looks brand new even though I use it as a daily in the summer and rotate out to something else in the winter (tack shed not climate controlled). I have a horse that is also between Full and OS, and the Eponia fits him very well.
