Brown Dressage bridles

I’ve given up on finding a dressage saddle for my pony (they either roll on him or it feels like my legs are dangling in space and I feel very unstable) so I’m looking for a brown dressage bridle. Needs to be a small cob size, no crank as he has a refined head, and doesn’t need a flash. I’d like something in patent?

Any suggestions? I have some Solo equine bridles but can’t afford those unless they’re on sale!

Maybe Lumiere?

Bobby’s cob size is on the smaller end, but I don’t think they have brown patent. There is no law against just using a hunter bridle; some do come with padding, and you can always change out the browband.

Love rolled bridles but I sold two after they weren’t adjustable for my ponies.

I purchased a brown patent leather double from them. Very pretty; affordable price.
They’ll let you customize the brow band.

If you don’t need a crank or a flash, you probably don’t need a strictly dressage bridle. Smartpak has a nice selection of brown bridles with no flash and no crank.

I like Eponia for the price. It looks like their prices have gone up in the last year or so, but I’m very happy with both my Eponia bridles.

Halter Ego should put photos of their products that fit their horses on their website - that first photo is not a good endorsement of their fit. I have a Halter Ego bridle and I am not sure I’d buy from them again. I found their browband beautiful but the leather quality is so-so and they run small.

Kalvakade might have what you’re looking for but again, I think with the specifications of patent you’re looking at dressage bridles, which are usually crank category.

They have other options, that’s just one of the brown/patent options.

I can possibly be flexible on the patent or the crank depending on price and other features

Here are a few options. These do all have cranks, but may be small enough in the nose to work.

Noseband only (or you can buy the full bridle) - https://bridle2fit.com/us/product/noseband-model-s3-patent/

If you don’t want the flash you can always do “surgery” with an Xacto knife

Here’s another that you might consider from EvoEquine in Britain:

It comes in Havana Gloss as a special order.

I have a bridle from them (not this bridle, but another one in black), and the leather is lovely. Plus they’ll put together a bridle for you based on your horse’s measurements instead of making you choose a single-sized bridle.

I have this one and love it. Alas, it does not apparently come in a cob size.

I bought it without a browband and then had one made.

Look at the selection from the Connected Rider. I have a lovely brown bridle I bought from there; it’s for sale but is full size.

Well, I purchased a Horze Clermont and the noseband could fit two of his noses inside of it! So back on the search. Here he is in his cobbled together black bridle.

There are some really cute pony bridles on amazon. Cheaper quality leather but they already come with the bling!

May I jump I’m amd ask if anyone finds a solid dark brown faux croc noseband while looking that they share it here?

My mare is very standard horse sized easy fit so far. Fingers crossed I can find one! (And I’ve reached out to Halter Ego already, if I can get one from them which will work with current bridle from them all the better. I’m not sure if that’s an option, so I’m trying to find other options as well.)

I had good luck with the cob sized bridles from Kieffer.

This is the one I had and I kick myself for selling it: https://kiefferusa.net/collections/bridles/products/kieffer-perseus-snaffle-bridle
The flash slides out, so no loop and it says it is available as a padded chin (not crank) and in brown. It looked really nice without the flash, I have a picture of my boy in it somewhere (sans flash)

This one hits patent AND brown: https://kiefferusa.net/collections/bridles/products/kieffer-comfort-paris-ii-snaffle-bridle
But you may need to chop off the flash loop.

Check out their site, many of the bridles on there have different colors, nosebands, etc options than originally pictured.

Desperate as a show is just a week away, I purchased this bridle which was on sale for a pretty good price. Cheap enough I can replace the noseband or see if I can cut off the flash tab.

I know FSS has croc print, but no experience with their quality.
Halter Ego has croc print, they are okay leather but not worth the steep price tag beyond fun colors/patterns.
I know I saw the most interesting croc print bridle the other day on Dressage Tack Trader… kicking myself that I cannot remember the brand, it was a new face on the market. I’ll chime back if I remember it – and please chime back if you find a croc print bridle! I’d love to see it.

Smith Worthington used good leather and stitching. This one might be nice. Brown cob size with reins.
