Brown top boots

Who can wear brown top boots when visiting another hunt? If you are a staff member of your current hunt and are visiting another hunt but not acting as a staff can you wear your brown top boot?

Well, as always, it depends on the hunt. ‘The Rule’ of thumb is no, anyone hunting ‘away,’ whether staff or plain old field member with colors, would wear a black coat and the appropriate plain black dress boots. As an example- Lynn Lloyd MFH at Red Rock never even asks, she shows up w/black coat. And for her part she asks the same, to make it easier to keep track of staff and field master in her country. But some hunts, Arapahoe comes to mind, just make very clear via their fixture cards and web sites that ‘as a general rule,’ anyone who has their colors with another hunt is welcome to wear them when hunting with Arapahoe.

Class Act #1 amongst old timers is just wear the black coat and plain boots. Class Act #2 is calling ahead and seeking permission to wear the boots w/tops. But if you do neither, lightning won’t strike you, lots of folks do that and it is far from the worst hunting sin you can commit.
