Brown VELVET helmet?

Do brown velvet ASTM certified helmets exist anymore?

my show attire consists of tweed jacket, brown field boots/gloves, olive breeches, white shirt/tie, but my current helmet is a Troxel Intrepid in “carbon”…not really show-worthy even if it matched the rest of the ensemble!

If brown velvet isn’t around anymore, would you pair tweed with microsuede or leather-look?

I am not a hunter, but figured the hunters might have the best idea! Thanks!

Charles Owen Hampton comes in brown, last I saw

Samshield has a lovely brown helmet

The Charles Owen AYR8 in brown is both beautiful & comfortable!

Charles Owens has a number if different velvet helmets that come in brown.

I have the “show jumper XP” which is (in my opinion) a bit more British in design, with a higher peak and more coverage on the back.

I bought mine from Dover (who was happy to special order it for me). But I think Adams saddlery carries it as well.

You can also buy a Charles Owen skull helmet, like what eventers wear, and buy a brown velvet silk or two for it - that’s what I always did, as I prefer the look.

Ohhh this brings back a memory. My first hunt cap, back in the late 60s was brown. Bought for the princely sum of $35.00 ( that I earned myself) ; a McHal with leather harness.

Ultimately I had it recovered as the brown velvet was clearly passe by the time I hit the hunter show ring. I was enough a duck out of water to not want to stick out any further.

Now, however, I love the idea , for dressage, of a very dark hunter green ( almost black) frock coat and brown hat. When I mentioned that to my trainer she cringed. I rode my last show test in a top hat and traditional black coat. I have long since hung up my spurs and the item of apparel top hat and hunt cap have long disappeared

I far prefer true ratcatcher to what passes for show attire in the hunter ring.

I think your turn out, for whatever discipline, sounds fantastic. If you could find a tattersall tie that would rock.
