Brrrrrrown Field Boots! I found some!

Thinking of ordering these deniro brown field boots: http://www.equiporium-usa.com/de-niro-classic-long-riding-boots-s2602.html but can’t decide between the brandy color (pictured) or the Oxford (pictured here on a slightly different style - http://www.equiport.co.uk/products/riding-wear/horse-riding-boots-and-chaps/lace-up-riding-boots-s8603-dn03/)

Anyone have any thoughts or opinions to help me decide?

KellyMac, I like the first ones! However, I like the traditional punched toe on the second pair, the lacing reminds me of something a lumberjack would fancy. My vote is for the 1st pair; they look very smart, and look like they would shine up nicely.

I love the look of the boots that lace up all the way, but the lazy side of me cringes at the thought of keeping those looking nice. Grime loves to collect around the laces.

Thanks! I agree the second pair are more whimsical than practical. I went with the first pair. Fingers crossed they fit!

Wondering if these would work? I love the vintage look. I’m really trying to find a three buckle brown pair.
My brother got a nice pair of brown polo boots custom and is now getting another pair but they’re over my budget. He’s a polo player but some of those polo boots look like they would be nice for informal days, too.

Does anyone have the Mountain Horse boots? I really like both their brown styles. Does the wide refer to foot or calf? If it’s the foot, I’m really considering buying a pair.

OP, they’re both gorgeous.

Love the Brushed Brown swatch pictured with first pair. Love the second pair too, odd as they are, but I like retro stuff in general.

I’d choose based on the style and color of your tack.

The wide would be referring to the calf. I do find that the foot on Mtn Horse boots runs larger than some others, so might be a little wider than some.

I have a pair of Mtn Horse Sovereign boots on order in the brown. I placed the order back in March or something like that and have had the delivery date pushed back multiple times. Last I heard, my “late July” expected date became mid-September because they supposedly had a bad leather lot or something and are having to remake them all. I covet these boots as the pictures are really pretty, but I’m getting tired of waiting!

Like horsepoor, I also find the foot to be a bit wide. I added Ariat insoles and I swear my boots feel like sneakers - love them!!

AWide is good. I have some Dublin tall brown boots with suede and they’re really wide. They’re as comfortable as my Birkenstocks for walking!

Horsepoor - ME TOO!! OMG, I’m so impatient. I ordered in FEBRUARY, when Mountain Horse released the new Sovereign. I LOVE THAT BOOT, and I do love how MH is roomier/wider in the footbed. I have a wide ball-of-foot-joint, but tiny slim ankles and small feet, calves. I find MH the best fit for me, in a size 6. They run big, cuz most street shoes, I am closer to size 7.

Anyways - I can’t wait to get them. I check every month on the backorder and the latest they told me is AUGUST. Well it’s mid-august

I have a new pair of mountain horse boots in black. I got narrow for the calf and that part fits fine. As others have mentioned, the foot is a bit wider/larger and I have a nasty blister on my heel as a result. Even with bandages on my heel, its still painful. sigh I have conditioned them several times and just ordered a gel sock.

I ordered a brown pair of Deniro boots a few months ago for schooling and from day one, they were totally comfortable. Of course they were more expensive, but they are the boots I wear everyday for riding so I thought it made more sense to put the money there… …

Just saw the post from arrapahoe about the lace up brown boots. Boy does that bring back memories !

In the sixties, the mother of a good riding friend of mine, found a vintage but in really good shape, pair of tall brown lace up boots at the local thrift store. I think she paid about five dollars for them …I was beyond green with envy…sigh

For those of you with Mountain Horse Sovereigns…any problem wearing these during cubbing? I tried them on the other day and they seem like they would be great. I was unsure if the patent/trim work at the top would be okay for hunting turnout. Would rather have these, but can always go for the Ariats…
TIA!

I have worn mine for cubbing 4 different times so far. They are very comfortable.

I rode in them 2 times prior to see if they would need any breaking in…I only had one spot over my ankle that was a little uncomfortable, but I conditioned them and rode in them again and they were great.

Today’s meet was from 7-11am with some pretty good sprints. I was posting or 2 pointing for a good part of the morning and then we had a LONG walking hack home. They felt great.

They have a squarer toe, which I like. It gives plenty of room for your pinky toe.

The leather is very soft and flexible, but I don’t feel that my ankle lacks support.

The patent trim is SOO small, I don’t think it would be a worry (unless you are in a SUPER conservative hunt). One of our members has brown boots WAY fancier…alligator…those are a stunning pair of boots.

I finally got the brown Sovereigns and they are beautiful. The slim calf is a perfect fit for me, but I went with a size 7 foot and they are enormous! I knew that MH ran biggish in the foot, but these are a full 1" (or more!) beyond my toes (and much bigger than other MH boots in 7 that I have). I explored exchanging for the 6 slim, but those are backordered til NOVEMBER! So now I’m thinking perhaps I’ll just send these back and order the 6s sometime next year when they are actually out and available. I hardly ride in the winter anyway, given my only-outdoor-arena and rain, so they’d be sitting unused anyway.

After months of waiting, to have them show up and try them on and feel like I put on clown shoes…well, they are really pretty, but that was still disappointing!:frowning:

horsepoor,

I agree they are sized generously. I usually wear an 8 1/2 in street shoes, but go with a 9 in most boots to make room for extra thick socks, etc. I have more than enough room in the 9’s. The 8 1/2 would have been a slightly better fit…but I wanted to have them now.

I put an insole ( on top of what was there) in my MH boots because of the extra room and I love them! They feel like sneakers & fit great!

I don’t think they come in half sizes. Tack store suggested doubling insole but I’m not sure that would help me with the length.

Just in case somebody out there is still looking:
