Buckeye Cadence Ultra vs Ultimate finish 25

I have been learning a lot about what a young horse needs to grow properly but I by no means feel like an expert yet and still want to learn more. My yearling filly is starting to look a little on the thin side and I wanted to add some more calories to her diet. She is out 24/7 and has access to green grass/hay. She is getting the recommended amount of Buckeye Gro n Win and so far I have really liked the Buckeye products. I have been reading many threads and a lot of people use Cadence Ultra or Ultimate Finish or even both. I am trying to figure out what would be the best option for my filly. A lot of people comment on the NSC levels in feeds when discussing diets with growing horses and I noticed that the Cadence Ultra does have high NSC levels(23%) so should I just try ultimate finish and see how it goes? If you have had any experience with the two or have some general comments on diets for growing horses please let me know!

I use Cadence Ultra and Gro 'n Win together. I’ll add a couple of pounds of the Cadence Ultra to each feeding when the Gro 'n Win alone isn’t enough to maintain their condition. Use the Gro 'n Win chart to determine how many pounds your horse needs to eat. It’s handy to know that 4 pounds of Cadence Ultra is equal to 1 pounds of Gro 'n Win.

Does Buckeye offer consultation with their nutritionists? I would start there.

Ultimate Finish is a product that’s designed primarily to give calories. Cadence Ultra is actually a feed and is fortified as such. You would need to feed approx 2x as much Cadence Ultra as Ultimate Finish to get the same number of calories. Both very good products. So…that’s my long winded way of saying that if you’re feeding the recommended amount of Gro N Win and just want to add some calories, go with Ultimate Finish.
