Hi all. My 16 year old TB is being ridden 5 days a week by a dressage trainer plus jumping lessons and the occasional CC schooling. He is in a boarding situation. He is getting 8 pounds a day of Nutrena Fuel, 1 pound of Amplify and all the grass hay he can eat with 4-6 hours a day of grass turnout. While the Amplify is fine, it is 30% fat. I feel I can get more bang for the buck with something like UF 100 which is 99% fat.But is it just as easily utilized as the rice bran oil in Amplify? Which would you use? He is barely holding weight and I need to up his Amplify to 2 pounds today. I could just buy rice bran oil too.

Investigate with a vet if he has any health problems that would lend to why he’s “barely holding his weight”

I like both for a case like you describe I would probably use UF 100, since they have to eat less, and add an oil on top, but not until I have had him in front of a vet and probably had a gastroscopy as well.
