Budget Saddles: Wintec Contourbloc?

Extremely new to dressage and stumbled upon the wintec contour or contourbloc. I think wintecs tend to be love them or lump them but are they a decent intro to dressage saddles? I have never ridden in a dressage saddle and wouldn’t feel comfortable ordering something custom right now without knowing what I like.

Are the contours flocked or only with CAIR? I know the horse does not prefer air panels. I’d love 18” flocked if they make those.

I have a Wintec Pro Dressage with contourbloc and LOVE it. It is my preferred saddle to ride in. I have had a lot of problems finding a dressage saddle under $1000 that works for both me and my horse, and it definitely fit the bill!

I bought mine secondhand from EBay several years ago and it has a slight unevenness to the tree. I can easily fix it with a shim, but I like the saddle so much that I wanted to buy a new one without that issue. I was bummed to see that it doesn’t look like they make them anymore.

Mine is CAIR. I’ve own 2 CAIR saddles and have no issues with it; my horse is super sensitive and has done surprisingly well with it. I don’t think the unevenness in mine is the CAIR, I think it’s the tree itself. Maybe it took some abuse with the previous owner or something. It just sits a hair lower on the right and I have to shim that side to make it level.

Yes, they are good saddles if they fit you and the horse. Like all saddles, they have a particular tree shape, and a particular contour from front to back and side to side that isn’t universal.

I have the Wintec 500 Dressage and also love it. It was a lot nicer than expected. Super starter saddle for the price.

I’d always go for a good quality used saddle and get it reflocked, rather than a budget new saddle.

Well that is not at all what I wanted to hear. I was hoping to find a used one but now that may be a unicorn search!

I think they are pretty easy to come by used!

I just couldn’t find the contourbloc specifically in a new model anywhere. I tend to be a pretty lousy online shopper so I have a feeling someone with more persistence to sleuth could chime in whether my observations are true.

for seat size do they fit “true”. If I ride in a 17.5" jump should I be looking at a 17.5" or 18" in a dressage

I usually go a size up for a dressage saddle v. jumping saddle. My jumping saddle is 17.5”, my dressage saddle is 18”.

I ride in 17/17.5 in Amerigo dressge saddles and have a 17" wintec. But I have short little legs lol

PM me. I have one I’m not using. Nothing wrong with it.
