Bug Fogger for Wasps in Horse Trailer?

Sigh. The hated trailer strikes again.

I went into my 2H BP this weekend to do a little spring cleanup. I noticed a nasty giant brown hornet crawling on my interior trailer tie. Luckily I noticed him before he noticed me. I knocked him outside with a pitchfork, and continued on with my business. I then noticed another 3 or 4 crawling along the side window, inside the trailer. I’m assuming there is a nest inside somewhere, but I didn’t stick around long enough to find out where it is. A cursory glance around revealed nothing.

My first thought was to suit up this weekend and do battle using a hand-held wasp spray (25’ reach). Then my co-worker suggested using a bug fogger inside the trailer, and finishing off any survivors with the hand-held spray.

Has anyone ever tried this? Thoughts? Pros/Cons? I’m going scorched earth on this one, because the last thing I need is my horse getting on the trailer and getting attacked by angry hornets. That would be my luck.

Read the label carefully. Not all bug bombs kill everything.

If you can close up the trailer then do that and then crack the door, give it about the 15 sec. shot of regular Raid (or whatever general purpose flying insect killer you like) and close the door. Give it 24 hours to work and then see what you’ve got. If it works you’re good to go. If it doesn’t then you might want to call an exterminator. Hornets are not to be played with.

The fogger should work if your trailer has full doors and the windows are closed. It should not be too hard to find the nest for the spray kind either. They are usually in the rooftop vents or a roof corner.
