Building Cross Country Jumps

I’m currently doing research into build cross country jumps, but there’s not a lot of straight forward DIYs. I’m wanting to build a 2 ft Irish bank that’s 18’x30’ and I was wondering if anyone had tips like best kind of wood, best wood seals, blueprints, how to reinforce, etc.

I need all the help I can get. Thanks!

Might want to avoid buying that on Amazon… It’s $912.89 plus $3.99 for shipping. That must be one heck of a book!

There is also this book, but its $2000 lol Im sure your local book store can order it;

Also, there is a FB group about jump building and design, its pretty good, lots of info shared there.

Man these books must come with samples of actual XC fences already built for these prices… Kind of like pop up books, but with actual fences!

Some good information, and a fair amount of entertainment, can be found in “Constructing Cross Country Obstacles” by Bill Thompson. It’s an older book and UK obstacle focused. Has some interesting info about how some of the fences have been built in the past at Burghley, Badminton, etc. I suspect it’s out of print, but if you happen to find it, interesting.
