Bunnies!

Who has bunnies? House bunnies or outside bunnies? What breed? Do you raise them?

Ours are house bunnies. They have lots of toys and a playpen attached to their hutch. They get along well with the dogs and cats. However, they do not have roaming privileges. Dogs have too much prey drive to trust that, plus, too many accessible wires.

We have Snowflake, who was dumped by a neighbor. She’s 5 years old and had to have an eye removed due to an old injury. She’s a mutt bunny. Our pirate bunny, lol.

Winter is our six month old California bunny that came from a different neighbor. He raises meat rabbits and I was having a weak moment when his wife said, “Here. Take this baby bunny.” She’s made a great companion for Snowflake.

The only issue we have is that they have dust bunnies under their bed….What does that mean?! :flushed:

Yours are adorable!

I had a Holland lop named Dumpling as an unrestrained house rabbit for her whole life. She was hysterical—she’d race up to one of the dogs or cats who was minding their own business, leap on them, then race away. You could practically hear her cackling with laughter as she did it. She also did drive-by bites on my ankles, and left gnaw-marks on all the wooden furniture legs.

I’d like to have another (especially a checkered giant), but the dogs I have now, though small, have some terrier in them and are too predatory to be trusted with a bunny.

Awee. I love bunnies but my dog would terrorize any and all bunnies.

I had two as a kid and they were super cool, very friendly. I used to take them to the park with their little harness and leashes.

Yours are darling.

Like your neighbor, I used to raise Californians with the black nose and ears. They are realllly cute when they are young.

Snowflake is really well house broken, but Winter wasn’t as good last time I tried a rug in their pen. I want to try something, though, because bunny rips are very cute. The floor has too much slippage for much running right now. Any suggestions? I was thinking a small cheap rug that can be replaced periodically. Maybe rolled up during the day and unrolled mornings and evenings when bunnies like to play.

Hmm, I just peeked online and see some people use puzzle mats. That might be a good choice.

She sounds awesome! I wish we could let ours roam, but Snowflake is destructo-bunny. If we could spay them, we would, but it’s really expensive.
