They had him at a farm I visit sometimes. He was obviously suffering from some kind of encephalitis. Stall running was a better term to use for him than walking. They said he needed to wear blinders 24/7 towards the end just to keep himself from running himself to exhaustion. Very sad. It really looked like they were starting to make progress with him, I would have taken him after they gelded.
On a related topic, heard the farm he was taken from shut down a month or so ago. Good riddance! Unfortunately LC called Gouch again and sent 6, some in foal and some along with babies at their sides straight to slaughter - and did it pretty quickly without many knowing. Something about leaving the state for a family illness. This woman is sick - wouldnāt be surprised if it was for her own mental illness. Last year she had a dam die during foaling. Baby survived. She let the studās owner know and when he asked what had happened she said she didnāt know but he could come cut her open and figure it out if he wanted to. 3 days later he stopped at the farm to check on the baby and the mare was still laying dead in the stall with the baby. Before he grabbed the foal and took it back to his farm he asked LC why. She said she didnāt have the equipment to remove the mare nor the stall space to keep the baby, it was fine where it was. Canāt imagine the horror that took place over there that we [I]donāt[I] know about.
Sending to Mel Hoover is apparently a retirement program in Ms Presidentās eyes. Sheāll get whatās coming to her - and I have a feeling pretty soon. Sheās POād too many that have worked closely with her and been burned.
What the hell is wrong with these people???
Just when you think it canāt get any sadder or more disgusting. How can people be so cold and cruel?
I find it horrendous in anyone, but more so in women. I canāt imagine what horror that little foal experienced, Iām just grateful someone removed it.
There are many rescues and people who I am sure would take a foal, why not at east try to find help, I just hate hearing of these sickos and their deeds, but at least when we do we know help and consequences are still needed. All is not well.
Would like to remind all Dauphin county residents that prosecutor Marsico is up for re-election tuesday. The poor handling and bungling thatās occured with this whole PN situation should be remembered on election day folks.
Also, residents of the state of Maine will have a referendum to vote for or against casinos at that states racetracks. I would urge them to vote no. It will be the biggest mistake any state can ever make.
Its been brought to my attention that a few folks have been a little spooked by knowledge that this website is being monitored. I for one am delighted to hear that and welcome those who are looking on as there is quite a bit to be learned here:)
WHERE ARE WE?
Has anything positive occurred lately? has anything occurred lately? I have noticed shorter fields, is that due to the vet checks or just coincidence?

Is plenty going on. What you wanna know?
Truthfully though when I post something and it gets no reaction from anybody it really takes all the fun out of it.
I do realize that all the most active folks on this thread have been banned but there used to be a few who gave a crap. Even Dickie shut his website down.
If nobody wants to interact here there are plenty of other places I can play
I saw Dick Hertz closed his site down as i followed that one too. I donāt know enough to have a great input here, but I try to follow, because I have a small vested interest ands want to know what is going on.
Maybe I am just taking up space, but it is important to me what happens there and with the horses that are leaving there.
Im think alot of people are interseted, but have no inside information to shareā¦so share away with what you feel is important
Same here. Interested, but donāt have anything to contribute and donāt live in PA so I canāt vote there. My guess is that this thread has lots lurkers who check occasionally for updates.
The feeding frenzy is over, and until someone gets hungry enough to dare spill the beans it will remain quiet.
Fear of reprisial and stall loss or ejection and shunning are also mitigating factors in silence.
Definitely. Please share.
WINDFALL PROFITS TAX!!!
Ok folks,
Letās talk about the parent company Penn National Gaming.
The recent referendum up in Maine was a shocker. All of the new casinoās were voted down. They were all-especially the slots at tracks expected to pass easily. These casinos were to be run by Indian tribes. The only one that did pass was table games for Hollywood casino in Bangor. Thus PNGI was the big victor up in Maine.
Once was a time I didnāt like Frank Stronach very much. Thought he wasnāt good for racing. I was thrilled to hear he got the Maryland tracks. PNGI changed my mind about him. That organization has done nothing but be a detriment to racing wherever they go.
On a recent trip to Pittsburgh I had the pleasure of visiting The Meadows. The place has beautiful surrounding farms looks like a little piece of Lexington. Many new businesses in the area. Fine homes. In short, the place is and looks quite prosperous.
Where is the prosperity that was supposed to come to the capitol region? Grantville itself is still the same hardscrabble little place itās always been. Most of the farms are for sale and not selling. Look like they havenāt seen a coat of paint in 30 years. About 75% or more of the population in the town live in trailers. Youād have thought theyād have done a little better in the home town of their flagship track.
Stalls are only given to people from out of state. There are people in there that have been living here for 7 and 8 years and still wonāt change there truck license plates for fear of being thought of as a local and losing stalls. This while there are empty stalls in every barn? WTF? Yeah, locals getting stalls is like winning the lottery but faraway folks are invited in there. Thatās right invited. Iāve had them tell me they got letters inviting them to apply.
You may find reasons or excuses for this policy of theirs but the consequence of it is that much of the money generated by it goes out of town. Central Pennsylvania is getting no benefit and all the negatives from having this obscene casino.
After the politicians were promised everything in return for voting this place in this is whatās happened.
Also, speaking of money, check this out:

Peter Carlino the chairman raked in a whopping $9,469,277 in total compensation last year. The few shareholders that Iāve met and showed this to are appalled. All while fighting tooth and nail any and all efforts of worker organizing or unionization there.
Additionally, while the economy still struggles along this place continues to post record profits every month. Where are all the new jobs that were supposed to come with this? Where is the promised prosperity for central PA?
For this I recommend 2 things
-
No more racinos. Folks in other states learn from our mistakes. This is not going to save horse racing. Fight against any and all expansion of gambling in your states. Worst part of it is when they get as profitable as this they have more to throw at politicians. Next thing you know your statehouse is working for casino interests.

Politicians of Pennsylvania, for their broken promises and unmatched corporate greed Iād recommend the imposition of a windfall profits tax on the stateās casinos. Clobber them good. Tax them till they cry:yes:
Penn was a dead end track long before the racino came in. The location does not entice many slot players who like to travel to various slot parlors and/or casinos.
NY is doing very well with their racinos. If Mass allows a casino at Suffolk, it will do well also. imo
Question from those who know. I havenāt read the whole thread, but am slogging along at about page 15.
The title of Penn National these days is Hollywood Casino and Racing or something like that. Hollywood Casino should be very publicity conscious, since they want to appeal to the slots lovers, who are mostly women. I know they have other pure gaming locations, because there is one 30 miles up the road from me. If the Casino owns and runs the track as well as the tables and slots, Iād think getting in touch with corporate and letting them know just how sleazy the track actually is. If they canāt keep their license in Pennsylvania without a track, they might just be pushed to clean things up there. They do NOT want masses of bad publicity about the butchers and users who run horses to death at place with their name on the door. I donāt think their female clientele would like to know what they could be said to condone.
Has anyone tried to go through the Casino company?
Penn Gaming owns the track and casino, as well as many other tracks and casinos. Corporate is aware of whats going on, but as in many large corps people tend to pass the buck and dont have the authority to always make the necessary changes.
Lets give them somethinā to talk aboutā¦
Rumors say that the [person] who was running horses to slaughter from Penn owners is getting hers before the end of the year ~ hopefully she takes down the rest with her! Lots of talk on her facebook page with TS & TH this spring⦠[edit]

From what I was told, PNG will be refusing entries from trainer Paul Truitt, aka Dr. Paul Truitt, aka the general manager of Star Barn Thoroughbreds in Grantville, Pa., who has been sending horses to slaughter from that farm (this has been documented, many turned up at New Holland and Camelot). Star Barn has gone belly-up and are liquidating the horses - last month they had more than 120 on the property.[/QUOTE]
Incorrect. Itās unfortunate that horses from that farm did end up at slaugther, but they werentā sold to slaughter from Star Barn. They were sold to a buyer, through an auction office, who stated that his intent was to retrain the horses and place them, and it was that buyer sold them to slaughter. As for Star Barn going belly up, itās due in part to an over-zealous, and not completely honest group of horse advocates, who for all intents and purposes are anti-thoroughbred racing, and who are quite adept at twisting a few facts into a very large, embellished and fictional story to server their purpose.

Sureā¦sounds good
I believe there have been charges filed - including felony charges - so not sure itās just rumor Unless Iām thinking of a different person.
