Business As Usual
off subject a bit, but does Maggie Moss still have horses with ASSmussen? If so, she may want to follow the trail down south to Mexico.
Yup, she does.

Just goes to prove the issue tends to be more complex than it may appear at first light.

So the jockeys have to triple their risk for that money monger Gill? Way to go Penn National.

Words fail me.
I understand the jockeys were told if they don’t ride in races with Gill horses they could be fined.
Correct. And how good will Penn look by fining 25 jockeys each night and not having any racing. “Business as Usual at Penn National”

Seems to me the jockeys need some guidance/intervention from the Guild!

Is anyone really surprised? I’m not. Penn is simply covering their *ss. I’m sure they are following their lawyer’s advice. They are not the type to set a precedent, so they will need a foolproof way to ban him or someone else to take action for them.

I really feel for the jockey’s at this point. I wish them well and hope they get the best legal advice they can. I cannot imagine literally being forced to risk my life every night or be fined. They MUST have some rights…

Maybe Dellahoussaye actually helped solve part of the problem…I’m guessing Gill didn’t see that coming.

Guild already chimed in (SIC) “Very few at Penn are members of the guild so we could give two S*%$@.”

Way to go Jocks Guild…anyway, not a huge surprise but still…wonder what the jock colony will do now?

As far as stalls… yes, they are given to the trainer, but can also be taken away without very much reason… empty stalls are a reason though.

Maybe someone should explain to Rob Marella and Christopher McErlean what a Management Exclusion is…although McErlean should already know what that is because hasn’t Charles Town done this to people down there? The Watson’s?

Makes me wonder…did PENN “give” those stalls originally to Gill or Dellahoussaye? Since I’m sure part of Penn’s defense is that they can’t hold the owner accountable, is “giving” the stalls to an owner in the first place kosher?

Is it just me or does the entire situation seem shady and underhanded right from the very start? Surprised anyone?

And the overnight is littered with Gill horses all over it. It’s time for revolt of epic proportions at Penn National. Anyone want to join ?

How? We can be there. Just say the word:cool:

I’d be interested to know the history of each horse he’s running this week. New claims? Off long term lay offs? Fresh from the farm or have they been on the backside - in other words - will he switch up horses he knows to be lame with ones he thinks will not break down just to improve his image?

Maybe we could start a “Jockey Fine Fund”, to pay the fines incurred by the jocks who refuse to ride…they are losing income by not riding, hate to see them fined on top of that…everyone puts all this money towards saving horses, this might have the same effect in the long run…

So true…that would also make it’s own statement.

Someone should set up a pay pal account that everyone can donate too. Dick can manage the funds.

Have there been necropsy results released?

I wish I could say I’m surprised, but the asshats at Penn clearly have their heads up Gill’s butt.
Can ANYBODY produce a gill-owned horse that is alive and in a second career (ie, not totally eaten up and destroyed) from the previous year?
I have one that came off the track in 2008; clean-legged, working sound, and this past year (2009) I both foxhunted and showed him.

That’s good to hear  x, where did you get him?

Dick doesn’t have the time to do that, unfortunately.

Well, scratch time is tomorrow, what would happen if the jocks didn’t “check on” their mounts for the non-Gill horses? Stewards would then be forced to NAME riders which would be quite funny since there’d be no one to choose from.

You cant fine a jock for coming down with the flu and staying home…just sayin…
