Business As Usual

He already did that, he fired Darrel this week.
Yes, but he can be licensed somewhere else at this point, Adamo may not get so lucky.

Yeah, but why would any decent owner want to turn around and hire a guy like that when there are so many other ethical horseman out there sitting on the sideline just waiting for an opportunity? Why keep giving horses to these parasites?

Iā€™ll say thisā€¦If Tony Adamo is training horses by St. Patrickā€™s Day, I will host a steak dinner for everyone who makes a post on this board in Grantville, PA. Trust me, the dinner will never happen.

Perhaps maybe is a good time to bring up the fact that Mr Adamo left his native Canada owing everybody up there money?

You privy to that Dickie boy?

You would be surpisedā€¦there are some owners that still believe in someone having bad racing luck, and would love to hire someone that knows all of their biggest competitors ā€œtricksā€ā€¦ trust me.

Oh, and non decent owners sometimes still pay the bills.

I agreeā€¦ so I wont count on itā€¦ Iā€™ll keep grilling my own steaks!

This all just made the news on my local tv station (wmur channel 9), probably owing to the fact that Gill lives here. Nothing new, basically just the same info in the recent AP release, but thought yā€™all might be interested to know.

I had to copy and paste this drivel from another forum. Yes I did read her the riot act and yes she did not respond. This is from someone who has been in the racing industry but mostly as a wannabe.

SO- unless youā€™ve been there- (and I have been for years) -then you just canā€™t say you know how these people operate. The jockeys arenā€™t concerned about Mike Gill or that heā€™s doing something illegal. Theyā€™re concerned that they might be cited for not running a fair race because admittedly - theyā€™re avoiding his horses on the track during a race and so - they canā€™t SAY theyā€™re riding a fair race. Thats why they are boycotting. theyā€™re protecting themselves from inquiry.
JMHO"
Just to be clear, that is the jockeyā€™s beef. They believe there are medications or procedures being done on Gillā€™s horses and them not feeling any pain is why the breakdowns are more sudden and dangerous than other breakdowns.
And that is what I think is hard to justify - refusing to ride based on what they suspect (or know but canā€™t prove). And, they are making an across-the-board assumption that all of Gillā€™s stock are about to breakdown. Thatā€™s a pretty big leap of logic.

Iā€™m not saying I disagree with the jocksā€™ position - Iā€™m just not sure this is a great precedent to set and frankly, Iā€™m surprised this aspect of the issue isnā€™t being discussed.

The other thing I still donā€™t understand is that Gill rides pretty decent jockeys. It doesnā€™t appear that he struggles to find a rider. It looks like he has his main rider and then his backup riders for more questionable horses. But, has he been having trouble getting someone to accept the mount? How often do you hear the page ā€œDelahoussaye/Adamo, you need a riderā€? Are his horses being scratched in the post? Pulled up right after they break? Any of the stunts that would normally occur with a horse the riders thought was a danger? Are individuals too afraid to cross him alone?

Well, there is always a rider that needs the money now.

However, I trust that the Jockeys have their sources, so if they collectively take a stand, I would not put my money against them. They are putting themselves out, no riding money and possible finesā€¦seems the risk is very real to them, and Iā€™d take head on that if I was management.

Well, it seems most every local jock took off and only a couple of ship-in riders remain in the race. One local rider, David Cardoso, got scared and checked on. Not a good PR move for him. It is now upon the horseman to support the riders and refuse to name Cardoso on any of their horses in the future.

Did Gillā€™s horse run with one of the ship in riders? Or was a rider named who then did not check in?

For Feb 3 Garcia who was named on Gillā€™s horses did not check on, instead J. Baez has checked on them.

Word has it that a bunch of Gill horses are about to be listed on CANTER. Keep an eye open for it folks

Thatā€™s because F. Garcia went into a barn this morning of one of his leading trainers and was told to leave and never come back if he checked on the mounts.

I just heard that Gill claimed one of Maggie Mossā€™ horses. Does anyone know if this is true?

No Darrell Delahoussye claimed one for another owner.

Laurie, this might be your chance to find one with a fracture and no disclosureā€¦ Glad to hear that some of his horses may be very close to getting a second chance.

Yeah that could work but you still have to prove that he knew the horse had a fracture otherwise he pleads ignorance. One of his other favorite pastimes
