Dear Maryland Trainers,
It has been brought to our attention that there was a horse stabled at Penn National which showed the same signs that a horse with herpes would have. The horse had to be put down Saturday. The vet at Penn National has sent the horseās blood to a lab to get tested. The barn at Penn National where the horse was living has been put under quarantine pending the outcome of the test.
As a precaution, starting Tuesday, March 9th, NO horses, coming from Penn National or the surrounding training centers, will be allowed to enter the stable areas of Bowie and Laurel until further notice. This means if you race a horse at Penn National, you must make arrangements for that horse to go elsewhere. Your horse will NOT BE ALLOWED to come back into any MJC facility.
Horses stabled at Penn National, or the surrounding training centers, will not be able to race in Maryland until the test comes back. We will try to keep everyone informed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Georganne Hale

She should just send that out again and say āP.S. Disregard, the test came back negative.ā

Are they saying what it was then? Would EPM have killed them that fast?
The bigger issue in terms of getting through the stable gate may be Anthony Adamo. Heās now allowed back to Penn National.

With Gillās horses??
I donāt know and quite frankly I donāt care.
What is interesting is thisā¦
They use a PA Bred A other than on Thursday with 9 horses. One of the horses entered is a horse who just broke its maiden for $2,500 at Beulah Park. The rider named on the horse is William Otero.
The horse is ineligible to run at Penn National due to the new eligibility rules.
Does anyone doubt that the horse Dana Whitney rides in this race will win?
You can draw your own conclusions, but itās quite comical to see how this racetrack is run.
Hint: John Krulock represents William Otero and Dana Whitney
So, to summarizeā¦a horse who just won for Maiden $2,500 at Beulah Park with probably a 10 beyer is entered to run an a other than and this horse is entered to be ridden by the leading rider on the grounds? Makes sense to me.
- Passed the entry clerk
- Passed the racing secretary
- Made the overnight
āBusiness as Usualā
I will take $10 wagers that no fine ever is levied against the trainer in question because at Penn National, these things get swept under the rug.
And just to be clear, the problems at Penn National are not with the commission at the track - they are good people - the problem lies with the toads in Harrisburg who take home their fat paycheck every two weeks and could care less about the corruption in the racing office at Penn National.
I would love to know what Dawn Patrick does in a day in her role as Administatitve Officer? She was alerted to the problems at Penn National a long time ago and sat on her fanny and did nothing. When I am done, she will not be employed by the state any longer. Turning a blind eye to true leads is not an excuse for poor performance - itās LAZINESS !!!
But we can all breath a sigh of relief because we are led by Bobblehead Ed Rendell. In his world, the state is Philadelphia and everything else is just some rural farmlands.
I still canāt believe that the ride by William Otero on Moving Violation does not merit an FBI probe - at Churchill Downs it would be a jailable offense, at Penn National you get 30 days which starts conveniently during the worst part of the racing season when days are lost anyway. That is race fixing in itās purest sense. But hey, what do I know, maybe I should go to the same school the stewards at Penn National attendedā¦Rule in favor of your buddies and give everyone a slap on the wrist and be inconsistent with your rulings for races.
Beulah Park, get ready for the corruption. Itās coming your way very soon.

Given the EHV test was negative, is the quarantine lifted?
Two horses shipped up from Florida on the same truck. One went to Morrisseyās the other went to the track. They both died. Both places are now under strict quarantine.
One horse died.
any more information?
I donāt know why you guys spout rumors and half truths at will. Why not find out what the real truth is and post that or donāt post anything? There is plenty of crap to go around up there you donāt have to ad lib on top of that.
There was no second horse. They donāt yet know what the horse died from but they do know he or she, I canāt remember which it was and donāt want to add to the misinformation was being treated for EPM before shipping up from Florida. The new owner did not know that so the horse was not being treated once it arrived in PA.

Yours truly was asking Dickie concerning stuff I heard from folks that are in that place every day.
Now question is if there was no problem with another horse then why was everything from Morrisseyās locked out???
Adamo ejection rescinded at PEN:

Sat racing cancelled
too bad the racing got cancelled. I know a lot of folks were disappointed, but it happens
New Equibase Format
I noticed the other day there was a different format to the Equibase Trainers Listings pages received via email.
scratches were listed as vets/stewards/trainer
claims were added.
and they separated entried according to tracks not just the datesā¦
I noticed that too, and thought a positive change.
However, they negatively changed the individual stable notifcations on specific horses.
Now, they no longer list when the horse last raced and how they came in. I used to be able to just make note of how they did in their last race, now I have to go look it up!
