Business As Usual

Go baby, go.

Rob Marella as a racing director is like hiring a window washer to supervise building a skyscraper. Like hiring a hospital cafeteria worker to do a brain surgery. Like hiring a legal secretary to be a lead prosecutor in a capital murder case. Like hiring a grill attendant at McDonalds to be a chef in a five star restaurant. Like hiring a 135 pound man to be a Penn National jockey. No wait. That actually happened under his watch.

The point is, he is grossly unqualified and ill equipped to run a racing department. This kind of power to a person with lacking credentials and knowledge lends itself to confusion, anarchy, and provides a potentially dangerous, unprepared work environment. Rob, please do everyone a favor and accept the job that you qualify for at the first floor information booth

Everyday i shake my head and I wonder when all the insanity will stop at Penn National. can this management team and racing operation be this dysfunctional. Are they actually trying to ruin racing or are they just incompetent? I say “yes” to all of the above. management continues to botch every situation that they get involved with. they made shambles of the Gill situation and passed everything off to the racing commission. they saw Darrel delahoussaye as an upstanding individual and allow him to be on the backside even though he has multiple charges of animal cruelty and and is a convicted felon. Our resident stooge, Rob Marella sees this lowlife as a saint but when information finally gets leaked to management concerning the possibility of an arrest of Delahoussaye then we revoke his stalls and give no reason. another botch job trying to save face but egg is all over your face already guys. do you really think that everyone is that stupid? We adopt an anti-slaughter policy that everyday we read on the overnight, BUT did we ever think that we would have to enforce that policy against our HPBA president and track “goldengirl” Stephanie Beattie?? Hell no we didn’t!! Frank Quigley runs around the track kitchen telling everyone, “Show me proof, show me proof” of wrongdoing and i’ll enforce the policy. Well evidence was put in your lap showing complete wrongdoing and you have completely ignored it and now we haven’t seen your lying a** on the backside since. what a hypocrite and phony you are Frank. more recently a very respectable trainer forwards a letter to management concerning the breakdown of one of his horses during morning training hours AND the negligence of the track in dealing with this. No track ambulance available, no vet on the backside, horse is walked off the track several hundred yards and stands in pain until a vet finally arrives 11/2 hours later to take the horse out of his misery. something is drastically wrong here people! so the individual writes a letter to management expressing his concern and trying his best to remedy the situation so that this never happens again. GUESS WHAT!! somehow our team of clowns rewards this individual by TAKING some of his stalls. Total insanity, i must say! what is wrong with management? good people get punished and felons get rewarded at this pathetic establishment.
also, we have a racing secretary that sells stalls and sees that races go for certain trainers depending on how big the gratuity is, we have a jock agent that controls the backside and entries on a daily basis, we have a kill buyer posing as a jock agent, stewards that continually make the wrong decisions and make their decisions with a bias, forged coggins everywhere and somehow they have all mysteriously disappeared. I can go on and on and believe me this is not sour grapes. This is the complete TRUTH! I would just like to know when all this insanity will stop once and for all! I’ll tell you when, it will stop when the entire racing department is gutted, a new panel of stewards are put in place, and the incompetent clowns that make up management are all replaced. also, the HPBA needs a total revamping from top to bottom. I know there are several good people on the board that are looking out for the horsemen and i commend those that are trying to make things better but some need replaced. And above all, YOU, the horsemen need to stop being divided and stand as ONE!
And last, please support the PSP investigation. these individuals have a full course on their plate and they are working non-stop and exhausting themselves for YOU, the horsemen. I have been told that the PSP has been somewhat of a laughing stock on the backside because nothing as of right now has happened. things take time, remember that. I can assure you that this investigation is in full throttle and hopefully that the results of this organization will be positive. Penn National’s future and YOU, the horsemen’s future could sorely depend upon it!

What you itemized big booper is only the TIP of the iceberg

and some subjects/issues NOT even mentioned yet.

There will never be a time when the horsemen all stand as ONE. You will always have the good honest horsemen on one side and the cheats who don’t want any change on the other. The reason why the cheats don’t want change is because they have no other knowledgeable way of winning. They are like most lost soul in the dark in a strange land without a light source. Clueless.

That is the difference between a REAL horseman and those who just happen to have a license that says trainer on it.

Just think about the number of auto mechanics out there and the percentage of them who are actually honest and/or ethical to get an idea of what we are truly facing in racing.

Boots Are Walkin

Trained by Stephanie Beattie came back really lame after winning the 6th race tonight at Penn. You Penn Patrol people better keep an eye out that this one doesn’t end up getting transferred in a parking lot near you this weekend.

Yes she is still sending her regularly scheduled loads directly to “Slaughter” per the pick-up drivers.

Her help was heard on the apron of another Penn-owned track snickering about our little forum, and bragging that nothing is going to stop the Canadian Bacon bound train
and the Penn Nat. isn’t going to do a single thing to her either.
after all she is beyond reproach
vomit vomit.

U.S. Dept. of Agriculture

You folks really want to bring the heat down then contact USDA with all of the evidence. That is the agency responsible for overseeing the slaughter horse stuff.

It will take more than one person complaining.

Karma is a bitch. That is all I will say. And that goes for Mr. Empty Suits (McErlean and Marella) as well

I agree, eventually one’s behavior will catch up to them, although it may not be until many more horses are lost

Is it acceptable that Stephanie Beattie has not 1 but 2 of her employees who work in the test barn on race nights.

How convenient, like a convicted bank robber working as a teller in the bank

A drug addict as a Pharmacist???

Why don’t they name it Beattie Downs instead of Penn National???

This is true.... when they ejected Gill, they gave Dangerous D/22 stalls! when MP talks privately he loses 2/which reduces a fellows grooms job to hotwalker..... domino effect.
Everyone suffers when these decisions are made.!

What I still find appalling is the fact that several years ago
was it 2004? or 2006?.. the RACE fund was endorsed by the Pa HPBA and PN

sooooooooooooooooo
why is there an issue at all?

NO horse from PN should be at a sale
OR

Traveling Circus

This camp for clowns is a traveling show.

They took their act on the road to CT with that aquisition.

One need check court house dockets for a many times continuance on a CT employee. Enough said until docket # proof.

They handed out stall assignments yesterday slashing #'s and rendering some trainers dead in the water, to sell, give away or eat some of their horses.

Maintance showed up to repair stalls that had gone begging for 2yrs??? But don’t bet your horses are going to benefit.

Racing Sec. reworked eligabilities giving 6yr olds with one career start left now up to 6???

Giving stalls to trainers on an “allegeded” waiting list". While there are laods of empty stalls. Punishing the smaller string trainers who actually make the fields go for the bigger trainers to win.

Punishing those smaller trainers who ship out to run but reward the Bigger guys who run else where.

Start number %'s that don’t refelct the impossibilety of actually getting a horse in.

How does the math work when stalls are alotted by Earnings of horses, %'s of starts and or wins
but a trainer who runs one horse one time, comments on how lovely the place is and he got 10 stalls. Must be CT’s own special math.

Another Penn Special lesson
allowing a trainer to enter the same horse in 2 seperate races on the same night/card, then letting him decide which race to scratch from and which to run in. Again Ct’s own special math class for the choosen

Why was Dr. Scratch the regular state vet off last night during the all Hoop Tee Doo of" Sprint Festival" with the huge amount of “Important” ship-ins
like Ms “B”.

Having to pay a fee to get your trailer a hideous red sticker on it so you can go thru the stable gate. Which of course is never checked on again???

Having to go the stewarts when you need a pass to get someone thru the stable gate.
Of course thats when they are there and will see you or anyone else.

Goodness Gracious maybe they want to offer Ms. “B”. a new place to hang her shingle
Not
that specialness is reserved only for Penn Natl.

From yesterday’s DRF:

CAMPO CLEARED OF ANTI-SLAUGHTER VIOLATION
Daily Racing Form reports that the New York
Racing Association has concluded their investigation of
an incident that almost led to the sale of five-year-old
Ultimate Journey (Hennessy) for slaughter, and have
cleared trainer John Campo Jr. and owner Fred Robinson
of any violation of their recently enacted antislaughter
policy. The policy, which was put in place in
December, states that “any owner or trainer stabled at
a New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) track
found to have directly or indirectly sold a horse for
slaughter will have his or her stalls permanently revoked
from all NYRA tracks.” NYRA’s investigation revealed
that Campo and Robinson never sold the horse, but
instead allowed a third party to give him away to the
Amish in Pennsylvania after it was determined that an
ankle injury sustained in a $7,500 claiming race at
Aqueduct Dec. 30 would preclude the animal from
racing again. The subsequent events that led to Ultimate
Journey’s placement in the May 19 Camelot horse
auction in Cranbury, New Jersey, are unknown, but a
member of New Jersey Horse Angels Rescue purchased
him at the auction for $300, saving him from potential
death. Ultimate Journey is currently located on a farm
in Howell, New Jersey, awaiting relocation by the Thoroughbred
Retirement Foundation.

Certainly an allowed and acceptable practice if one or both of those races is a stake, or at least it is in NY. Is it specifically disallowed in WV?

You can nominate your horse for as many stakes on the same day at the same track.
Or even diffrent tracks in diffrent states.

But you can NOT enter and be in the program in more than 1 race with the same horse on the same card on the same day any where on any track.

You just can’t show up and choose which race to run in.

Unless thats special to NY.

Check back pages on this thread see where another trainer in PA was doing the same thing.

PLEASE living next door to Lancaster county and the Amish just what Buggy was he going to pull or what field will he plow??

The Amish as a rule don’t ride or rehab OTTB.
The smoke is so thick on that tale.
Is Amish code for New Holland.

Glad horse is safe
