Business As Usual
Nother thought, anyone willing to do this at their local tracks? Just get the rescues to introduce themselves at these types of meetings and pass out business cards if you have them. (I will happily print some out if you need em folks just pm me.) Time to look at this as a business transaction and not the emotional roller coaster it is.
The Welfare and Safety Summit at Keeneland this week proposed liaisons at each track to work among the tracks/trainers/horsemen and rescues. Let’s hope they get it going ASAP.

It was brought to my attention by a trainer at CharlesTwon in West Virginia this AM.
That CT is considering paying for euthanasia of on-site stabled horses .

Since they are owned by the same parent company ( they just re-named their casino Hollywood at CT) does it stand to reason the Penn will announce on July 12th the same??

Miss DH :frowning:

Thanks! Just don’t let the bad guys come in pretending to be the good guys in order to get the thread locked again. I know that’s part of what happened last time.

Yep
this is what the other side wanted. They wanted Dick Hertz silenced. Unfortunately, the Mods seem to have accommodated them.

Free Dick Hertz! Free Dick Hertz! !!

Dick Hertz was the best part of this thread. It’s sad he’s banned. I think he really has great information and always seemed to be very knowledgeable and caring. I hope he still continues working to make Penn better.

Chronicle wants to keep a heavily visited page up for obvious reasons but to eliminate the auther from it is beyond stupid. Something doesn’t add up here. Is Dicky gone forever mods or is he on “vacation”? I guess if he’s on vacation its merited but to never allow to post again would be pretty harsh. What is the deal mods? Is he gone forever? If Dick is gone this thread will die slowly.

As for the HBPA Meeting who is going from up there?

Word has it that there will be a well represented, unified group at the HBPA meeting demanding answers about missing horses and the Steph Beattie retirement program of forgetfulness. Something tells me that Donny Brown won’t be able to give away enough free hot dogs to deter the wrath of the group of people standing together in support of horses and refusing to accept elitist hypocrisy. We won’t accept changing the subject. We won’t be swayed by a declaration of you caught us and we’ll try to do better next time. It’s come down to simply showing your past retirement procedures for your horses and accounting for the missing animals or start haggling over who will take the blame. Unfortunately, being backed into a corner isn’t an awful lot of fun

Don’t you have to be an HBPA member to attend the meeting or can you be asked by a member to attend? If Dick Hertz is banned then what about our constitutional right to free speech? Does he not have the right to speak the truth or give his opinion like any other American?

R Jack, the US Constitution doesn’t guarantee freedom of speech on privately-owned equestrian bulletin boards. Loosely defined, Freedom of speech was intended to provide citizens a right to speak their minds in order to impact the political process, but not necessarily the political process at Penn National.

That said, free Dick Hertz, please?

Someone should compile a long list of Beattie’s horses who haven’t run in a while and take it to the HBPA Meeting on July 13 and quite simply ask her where the horses have been placed.

An interesting quote from the Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred from a Murray Rojas owner named Jeff Greener. He says “Murray is simply the best, period. She loves the horses she trains and she takes every precaution to make sure they are safe, happy and healthy - and above all she is honest to a fault. If I were reincarnated, I would want to be a horse in Murray Rojas’s barn.”

I wonder if DB Jr. would make that same comment about SB. Or would it be something like “I would love to be a horse in SB’s barn right up until the point I’m loaded on a one-way trip to have a .22 caliber bullet sent through my brain which may occur as quickly as 2 days after I just won a race for them.”

I understand it’s already been done. As to the meeting, it is my hope that as many COTHers as possible show up there. Especially all the anti-slaughter crusaders. Let’s have an overwhelming turnout there folks. Would be nice to see some humane groups there as well.

As for this a ship is only as good as it’s crew. Murray has the best barn boss/assistant in that place. Her successes are largely attributable to her excellent help. The guy is entirely too good for that place.

LMAO!!!
It was as always a pleasure to see the esteemed gentlemen Dick Hertz at the track this morning. As he is out there lurking he knows full well anything he wishes to say he can contact me or a number of other people that will be more than happy to relay it here.

One thing we discussed that I’d like to bring up is that there are a whole lot of folks out there lurking who are afraid to say anything for fear of repercussions by the people running that track. It’s time for that to end. Anybody following this thread who has information to share let’s hear it. Be part of the solution not part of the problem! Let’s not let Dick’s good work be wasted.

Again, let’s have a good turnout at the HBPA meeting. If Stephanie cannott account for the growing list of forgotten about horses or identify her “nice 4H lady” it’s time her resignation be demanded.

Murrays horses are as well cared for on her farm as they are at the track.

She knows their names and what the deal is.
Each and every horse I have purchased from her was well broke, well handeled, and SOUND nor did they crash once off the track. Fat shiny and as represented.

Even if we gain entry to the HPBA meeting it will be counter productive to create a scene. If you are not a member and can not vote its a voice unheard.
Plus any disruption speaks of “John Sunwack”. And we don’t want to be such PITA they stop or cancell the meeting.
Those of you who are members can carry our voices for us.

Let’s try this list on for size. It is very sad that it must come to this but it is now time to see if the Steph Beattie connections can account for these horses

The time for nonsense and tough talk is over. This list, along with other special horses of interest , will be examined and discussed at the next HBPA meeting. After Ms. Beattie and Mr. Brown remove the panic lump from their throats, we will expect to hear some definitive explanations as to their whereabouts.(Sources and references will be thoroughly checked). It seems as if there will be fireworks on July 4th and on the day of the general membership meeting. I wouldn't miss it for the world

Only board members get to vote on any subject except for electing the board members obviously so unless you are on the board you will have to wait for your chance to vote them out of office. Even board members do not vote on anything at the general membership meetings however so you can get your point across but there won’t be any action on it until the next board meeting.

Just a simple note of clarification on the earlier posted horse list. For the record, I do hope that Beattie, Brown et all are able to provide the proper information to the satisfaction of the horsemen. If they are able to provide proper verification as to the safety / placement of all horses listed, they will receive apologies, rave reviews and accolades from this poster. Hell, I will even publicly shake their hands while exclaiming well done or even buy them dinner at The Firehouse or a better restaurant if they wish. Looking forward to a positive discussion and solution at the meeting

Moe Larry Curly, one of the horses on your list, Seattle Jones, was purchased privately and is now in the process of learning to become an eventing horse; he now lives in North Carolina.

Can’t vouch for any of the others
this info from someone who is an avid follower of all of Smarty Jones’ progeny.

Thanks for the insight, little hound. Kudos to the connections for doing right by that horse. I hope the others are so fortunate and I can continue to give the proper credit. I will remove the horse from the list

I see that the PM facility has been disabled for “banned” members.

How does one contact Dick Hertz now?

Much Respect.

I got a PM from Dick in reference to a question before his untimely ban. His email is dickhertzchron@yahoo.com. He told me to hit him up with any questions or concerns

glad to hear all this news me and the boys will be there

Dick is here!
