Hi, i’m new to this so be kind if i’m in the wrong place.
Does anyone own a Butet Dressage saddle? and if yes would you recomend it?
thanks
I do not own one because they do not seem to fit my horse well. However I have ridden in one several times on a horse it did fit and I LOVED the feel and balance. However, a bad experience with foam vs wool has put me off French saddles overall. Adjusting the fit as your horse grows, muscles up and changes shape is not always as easy as a sales rep would have you believe, and often not possible at all. Just something to be aware of.
I ride in a Butet jumping saddle and had a Butet dressage saddle that I just recently sold due to losing the horse it was for.
I loved that saddle so SO much. I had the monoflap and I particularly like the seat on their dressage saddles as they are not really deep. They create such a nice balance and are so comfortable.
Butets are one of the best saddles imo.
I had one for a while and loved it like a child. Sadly the horse I bought it for very quickly outgrew it (and they cannot be adjusted) so I sold it on. It was hard to part with, but I have to admit my other saddles - Hennig, Antares, and Custom - fit a much wider variety of horses.
I have one - an old ('99 maybe?) monoflap - and absolutely love it. Had the panels replaced a year ago because they were hard. Even then, the horse went great in it. Perfect balance, minimalist seat and front block.
I just spoke with the Butet rep at the Sagmae tent at Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event, and she told me Butet does wool now. The foam turned me off the brand, too, but I’ve definitely added it back to the list now that wool is in play.
I do believe butet was recently bought out by CWD. Curious if the saddles will be built the same or?
