Saddle shopping, my least favorite thing. I can’t find a used Butet that will fit, and Beval no longer carries new Butets for trial as Butet is moving to a rep system. So, looks like i may have to buy something without sitting in it first. Has anyone ridden in the extra deep seat that can compare it to the deep? Thanks!
Sagmae is (one of) the new dealers for Butet and had TONS of used at Rolex last year. Did you see if they might have a used or demo you can try?
Sagmae has a ton of “Demos” and basically what you sit in and like you can buy and keep. The rep that came to our barn was very knowledgeable and patient. I think my friend tried 10 different saddles.
You guys are wonderful! Thank you!!!
Is Sagmae in Virginia only or do they travel? There is not a lot of information on their website. Thanks!
Not sure where the OP is located but Ride, a tack store in Bedford, NY carries the line…
I had a hard time finding new Butet leathers and im’d Butet on FB. Ride responded and advised they carry everything…(914) 234-7433

If there is no rep in the state that I live in, would one travel to me? I don’t really understand the rep system when not at a horse show.
It doesn’t seem like it. I have to say, buying a Butet is quite difficult right now. I have accepted that what I probably need is not available used, which is fine, but plunking down $6k for a saddle when from my understanding there’s no pro-fit tree is a little stressful. The 2 shops mentioned above have been great, but both are a plane ride away from me. This e
Justice, depending on what you are looking for you may want to see if you can find a used FB2 tree. That is the closest I’ve found for a “pro fit” Butet and mine has fit just about everything I’ve put it on. Good luck!
I haven’t even gotten that far, it’s the seat size flap combo that is an issue, and from what I can tell, they don’t make that tree any more. You have to pick a specific panel configuration. What funny is that the entire barn rides in butets, they are just older and get passed around. They all just say s for standard tree.
Thankfully, I just realized Butet USA is at WEF. Hooray! I’ll be able to have a pro fit me and figure out the panel mystery. We had planned to be there for a day after our cruise in a few weeks, so sadly won’t have a new saddle for a couple of months, but just want to get it right.
I believe the best Butet rep ever, Charlotte will be back at WEF next week. She’s in thermal right now but she said she would be back at WEF soon. She is absolutely outstanding to work with. I’m 6’ tall and no picnic to fit a saddle for.
