Buying bulk chia seeds in Canada? Where?

Any Canadians feed chia seeds to their horses? If so, which supplier do you use?

Looked into EquineChia and GetChia and while their bulk prices are great, their shipping is insane ($80!).

Any good Canadian distributors/retailers or similar products to feeding whole chia?

Have you checked with a local feed store? I know the one near me sells bulk flax, I have no idea about chia seeds though.

Yes, bulk flax is easy to find. No feed stores seem to carry the chia seeds though… going to have to order them but am not sure where from .

Bulk Barn, maybe? Human grade, but…

Thanks! I actually looked into that already and it came to $125 for 10 pounds… nuts! My best option so far is looking like Costco, which is still way more expensive than the purchase prices on the two websites in my original post… kind of a bummer.

Just in case anyone else runs into a similar situation as mine, I ended up stumbling upon bulknuts.ca and was able to order 20 pounds of chia seeds for just under $100, with free shipping. So happy!

Do you have SAMs or Costco? They have a good price.

Thanks for posting the info, good to know!

See if getchia.com ships to you. I found them first on eBay, and sometimes I buy either on eBay or from the company depending on which has the lowest price. I buy the 3 pound packages, 4 or more at the time to get a better price. I buy the human grade vegan black getchia seeds.

Getchia.com

Why Chia over Flax seeds. In almost all categories Flax is superior and it definitely wins in the price category.

Yes I mentioned them in my original post. Shipping is $80.

Few reasons. Primary one is for the stomach care benefits. My mare is an internalizer and is ulcer prone, which chia seeds are supposed to help quite a bit with. Chia seeds are also a complete protein and don’t have to be ground like flax does… I’ve fed both ground and unground flax in the past and had 100x more obvious results with the ground- just don’t have a lot of interest in doing that every 2-3 days for forever.

Also my vet says they’re better so I’m going to listen to her :).

Yes, I mentioned in my original post that their shipping is $80 , which is why I’d like to find a Canadian supplier.

Cataluna do you still order through bulknuts? Are prices in Cad or US? Looking to try Chia for our guys.

I buy getchia here in the states. So I don’t know what you can find like that in Canada

I am from Barrie location I was able to find Chia Seeds (25KG-50LBS) for $290. I think the company is called BR Naturals.

Where are you?

Our local flour mill (Arva flour mill) special orders chia seeds from their flax supplier. Might be a solution if you are near London?

There are many places where you can buy them! Click Here to find some online stores mentioned here!
