They got a whole herd from the same farm, including the stud - who is a bay roan. Looks like a complete dispersal….or disposal. All of them looked worried, and the stallion could use some weight. The mares seemed to be in good shape, but it’s so sad that they couldn’t find private buyers. I guess the papers are lost or non-existent?

Yeah, could be lost or non-existent. They’ve also had some Andalusians and Andalusian crosses that really don’t look all that Andalusian to me, but who knows.

I think that is why she got on the SOLD list so fast. Somebody saw a profit to be made. She was a really pretty mare, in good flesh, feet looked fine, did not appear lame when trotting around, did not look to be elderly or feral, nice mover and did I say pretty. She did not look like a QH cross which I guess is what you usually see in these situations in the SW. If she wasn’t pure bred she was pretty enough to pass.

The buckskin Andalusian mare was being used as a broodmare and had been “exposed” so she may well be in foal to that stallion.

No papers? Mares running free with a stallion? Sounds like a reputable, quality breeding establishment. Of the lot, she probably has the most resale quality.

There are several more nice TBs and some nice selling grade mares that are possibly bred, victims of an owner’s death and family liquidation.
I feel badly for those ranch mares.

Not at Bowie, but a cute, possibly TB mare (has a chip, but it’s not in the JC database and is otherwise unregistered) at a dealer in Ohio. Will be headed to another sale soon. 3 yr, old, 15.2/15.3 chestnut.
