Thanks DMJ…your horse is so cute! I wish I could have stayed to watch your last round, but my trainer was waiting for me, and I still had to load my bike in my truck (a total pain) and then go hook up to my trailer. Unfortunately, I didn’t even make it into the jumpoff for my A/A round…had a rail down at fence number 4, the peppermint colored oxer. Oh well, I consider the show a great success nonetheless!
And yes, a fun time was had by all! It was a lot of fun not only meeting a fellow BB member, but we also rode in all the same classes! So we got to share our perspectives on the course. The courses were fun, although the first day we had some really funky turns in both of our classes!!! Our course today was particularily fun, although very twisty turny! It was a power and speed, and a couple of times in the jump off (I made the jumpoff in the low AA class) I got confused as to where I was supposed to go next! It’s a good thing those jumps are numbered! Also there was one part where we had to gallop a LONG way to the next fence, which was quite fun.
I got a pic from yesterday, so I’ll attach it here.
QHSM STRIKES AGAIN!!
And people wonder why we consider her “armed and dangerous” whenever she has a piece of photographic equipment in her hands.

See what the sun does to my mind?? That was your first class that you were so quick in the jumpoff! You guys were really good! In the AAs, I had the second to last fence (Christmas tree oxer) down.
Your trainer seems super nice too!
Here is a pic…actually a proof but I think it is legal because I did buy it… Please no comments on my Richard Spooner-esque lower leg…hehe
Did I or did I not say, just before she clicked the camera, “Mom, I think you’re aiming too high,” but she took it anyway.
But ya’ gotta love her!

Aaaahhhh…the evil christmas tree oxer (which I called the peppermint oxer). You’ll recall I had that same fence down in my jumpoff in the Lows. You guys did great…I wish I caught more of your rounds!
Great pic, and please, don’t even complain about your leg…mine is FAR worse!
I really like my trainer…she is really nice and an excellent coach. I’ve been with her 3/5 years, and I have learned a TON from her!!!
Thanks everyone…the show was tons of fun!!! I had a big grin on my face most of my rounds. Except when I missed in a big way…then I make faces. My trainer’s new thing is to tell me “have fun” before I go in the gate. It works! Then I think about having fun running around on the grass.
My pic is not quite as sharp (I ordered the one I posted on Sat. and picked it up on Sun.) because I compressed it so it wouldn’t be a huge file. Plus it was taken with a digital camera by the show photographer, but I’m not completely happy with the quality. It looks good from a few feet away, but if you look up close, the resolution is not as good as a real photograph. I also didn’t like that it was a glossy print. For $40 a print I think we deserve a photograph on film, personally.
Cactuskate…read your post on the other thread…I was busting up laughing.
I am not going to Huntington Beach, but a few people from my barn are going. A couple of our junior riders are going to do the Music Derby thing…they are doing some underwater/fish/mermaid thing. I’m not sure how their horses are going to react to being dressed as fish… I may go down for the day to watch.
Coreene, thanks for taking pics…I’ll email you!

When you said peppermint, I thought the pink and blue fence for some reason:)
We did have the same oxer down! It is cursed. Alot of kids from the barn had the narrow (#5) down. They kept calling it a “squeeze” fence. Have you ever heard that before? I always just call it a skinny or narrow…
I really like your pic - did you order that one? I liked the quality of their photos…but they are pricey!!
SIGH. I need to not pivot on my knee! ps – you have MUCH nicer eq than I!!!
AA - you mean you just got the pic on disc and not a print?
I like your trainer’s have fun pep talk! My trainer told me to yawn. Strange but helped a little! I was just happy when he and our asst. told me I looked less green than the show before!!
You know, that reminds me of the pictures I took on my 21st birthday… No bodies, but I alternated those with pictures with no heads in them.
Wish i could have been there to se you all It looked like fun jumping on the grass
You get the print, like a regular photo, not on disc, but since it was taken with a digital camera and printed on a printer (high quality I’m sure, but not quite as nice as film) it’s just a smidge lacking in the resolution department. It’s okay for hanging on the wall, and no one would ever know the difference, but I looked at it closely to see how good the digital pics can really be. Well, it’s not the pic that is the problem…digital pics are quite clear on the computer screen (from pics I’ve seen taken on a high quality digital camera). I believe that the printers are not quite up to snuff yet…you can tell that it was taken with a digital camera if you look close enough. I think I’ll post a thread about digital pics to get other opinions.
I never quite figured out who your trainer was! The yawning thing sounds good to help relax…like taking a deep breath. I like the have fun thing too…and you know what? My trainer forget to tell me that when I went in and had that major miss to the first fence!
Did I or did I not tell you, Suave, that the photo would end up being a trio of floating heads if we let my mom take the shot?
It’s so blurry and askew… hey, don’t we look wonderful? (Notice how I’m leaning a tidge to the side? It’s to keep Hammie from ripping off the arm of my huntcoat with his bared teeth).

Ahhhhhhhh, the picture is a wee blurred. But we sorta can see you guys. Okay, so when is the next photo session?
A/A & dmj, you guys look like you’re having a ball. Can’t believe it, you even have hints of a smile on your faces!!
Interesting! I didn’t know they were taken w/ a digital.
the one I scanned was from the little proofs they have, but now that you bring it up…it could be sharper for the 40 bucks! Oh well.
My trainer is Mickey H…we were kind of across and down a little from where your barn was…we had a black & white set up. I really love our barn!
So now I bet you are going to make her tell you that before every round We have all kinds of superstitions. When we are walking the course, one of the girls thinks she has to touch every pole on every fence - then she won’t have it down. hehe
Was he being camera shy?
Look at all of you “huntin’ and jumpin’”. Color me very green as in jealous, jealous, jealous.
AAJ, please see my post on dork goes to horse show thread. I’m thinking you seriously need the advice. Major 's here.
Isn’t it fun meeting up with the BB’ers. Almost like a family reunion of sorts.
“The older I get, the better I used to be.”
Sorry Bumpkin! There actually were no less than 3 professional photographers there snapping away at me (and others, ) for magazine and book photos, but alas, I have yet to see any of those pictures.
But I just posted a snapshot of me on Hammie at home on the Baby Greenie and the JRT thread.

And took a few of Cypress, so hopefully those came out darling. I’ll send them to you AA, email me your address when you have a sec. Also our group photo from The Oaks is in that set.
Who is going to HB for the August 2-5 show and who is going to HB for the ex-GTE, which runs from August 8-12? I will be there, spectating of course.
