CA hunting? Tejon Ranch?

Hi, I am located in the mountains above Bakersfield. Wanting to try hunting (coyote?- hopefully no kill). It appears that Tejon ranch would be the closest to me (wanting to haul my horse). Can anyone tell me anything about hunting at this venue? Anyone hunted near Ridgecrest? That would also be do-able for me. Thanks a ton in advance. My horse is a level headed TB who has done lots of trail riding, some eventing, and we have been out with hounds once before with the Santa Ynez Hunt on on a “fun day” several years ago- not official hunt just informal riding around and jumping. For what it’s worth I was with the most advanced group. We had a blast!!!

I think you better go so you can tell everyone else about it! Pictures look nice…

Tejon is gorgeous country. It has rolling hills, great view points for those hanging back, and they have good runs. Not to mention the people are very kind. Red Rock Hounds has a join meet with Tejon yearly. We love it, and Red Rock is heading back Feb 4-12th, which will be loads of fun.

Ridgecrest is also very fun. They have a few different places that they hunt out of. My favorite is hunting out of the home fixture, but I have not hunted with Ridgecrest is years. I also loved Robbers Roost. The history there was just too fun! Ridgecrest is great for the beginner fox hunter because of the country. It is pretty wide open with gentle terrain. However, I have not heard of any more Ridgecrest joint meets in a few years…

And if you want a grand adventure, you can travel to Reno for Red Rock Hounds opening weekend coming up in October. It’s promised to be a ton of fun!
