CA Trace vs. AZ Copper Complete vs. Custom

Currently managing an IR horse, and I switched off of TC 30% for him per ECIR recc. He is headed to retirement boarding with my custom mix of a AZ copper Complete and Glanzen Lite…

Debating using the same custom mix for the eventual next horse (who hopefully will not be a metabolic challenge) or just going simpler to CA Trace or AZ CC only. As iron is high in our area, I don’t think I want to go back to TC30% and there aren’t many RB’s out there that appear to be low iron/no added iron. (hoping I won’t need more than a RB for next horse too…)

My custom HorseTech mix, Each 150 gram serving provides:
Cobalt 2mg
Copper 260 mg
Zinc 720 mg
Manganese 200 mg
Magnesium 5.0 grams
Selenium 2.0 mg
Vit E 4,000 IU
Iodine 4.0 mg
Vit A 15,000 IU
Biotin 30 mg
Chromium 4.0 mg
Lysine 10 grams
Methionine 3.0 grams
Threonin 2.0 grams
B-Complex equivalent to a 1 oz serving of HorseTech’s B-Plex supplement : (Thiamine, B1 30 mg
Riboflavin, B2 40 mg
Niacin, B3 90 mg
Panthothenic Acid, B5 35 mg
Pyridoxine, B6 35 mg
Biotin, B7 2mg
Folic Acid, B9 25 mg
Vitamin B12 300 mcg)

Trying to make sure I’m cost effective, keeping it simple, as well as covering all the necessary bases. Open to other options out there too.

I use CA Trace Plus and like it a lot but am looking at switching back to a Horsetech custom mix because I want additional copper, zinc, magnesium, and Vit E. However, I have a horse who will not eat powdered anything so I can only do a custom mix if they will let me use the High Point Pellets as a base.
As for the CA Trace Plus I think it is a really great supplement, and like it a LOT better than a RB for meeting vit/ mineral/ amino acid requirements. My horses are a bit of a special case with one likely being PSSM and had EPM in the past and neither having access to a large amount of grass (hence the added Vit E). For a “normal” (is there such a thing?) horse I think the CA Trace Plus would be my pick.

I have my two horses on California Trace Plus and I have been really pleased with it. Both horses have shown substantial improvement in hoof quality.
