Caleb Hammer is an acquired taste
But today he is taking on a 20 something broke horse girl who dreams of winning money in cutting.

I can’t explain why, but I love Caleb! I’ll watch this for sure!
He’s kinda like a Millennial Suz Orman
Can you imagine if he had a room full of us grown-up {Ahem} 50+yo broke horsewomen?

Him:
I actually like his straight shooter sh*t, lol.
I enjoy him too or I wouldn’t have linked, watching him made me realize how much pelleted bedding bags I could buy if I quit getting take out coffee on campus!
I really enjoy Caleb. He comes down hard on people for spending but he’s also very empathetic. I’ve seen some episodes where it is clear someone is genuinely trying to dig themselves out or is drowning because of medical bills and he is very compassionate. I also appreciate that he has zero qualms about calling people out for dragging a partner into financial ruin or the impact of apathy surrounding debt on dependent children.
I’m watching right now. She’s not a bright horse girl. And the horse show girl in me doesn’t approve of her hat. I guess I’m feeling petty on a Friday afternoon!
As a former cutting competitor, I can tell you right now you have to spend a lot to win a lot. Just ask me how I know!
And her hat is a joke. It is not shaped or fitted correctly, and should not be tilted back like that.
Echoing the A LOT of money!!
I think it reins true for all of the upper horse show business but cutters & the western performance industry are finally catching up with the HJ industry.
The hat also threw me??? Why is it like that??
Hammer seems like a version of the Jerry Springer show. Yelling and cursing, banging his fist on the desk. Why can’t he just talk calmly? Not theatrical enough to do that?
I skipped through a little and it sounds like she’s new to cutting and is hoping to make money after show fees on a horse she trains herself via clinics? That will be a very tough road!
I guess budgeting is all about picking your priorities.
