Calf cramp!

While going cross-country on Saturday, I got a cramp in my right calf, about a third of the way through my ride (course was 10 mns long.) I did manage to finish - and even win my division - however it has been hurting since then and now 2 days later is still bothering me.
I have been stretching but is there anything else I can do? I have another show next week-end, so would like it to be better by then.

Take 500 - 2000 g magneasium per day.

Must be the season!! I got one Friday night after walking my course. I didn’t win my division, but did come 2nd. Actually riding was an activity that made the cramp go away, but as soon as I touched ground and began walking it came back and is still here.

Good on you for finishing! I get bad ones sometimes that I can still feel days later. I call it ghost pain. I use a heating pad to help soothe the muscle. Or Tiger Balm (don’t heat after applying Tiger Balm) or Voltaren. I find an hour of heating pad on low helps a lot.

Try soaking in a warm Epsom salt bath. That usually helps me.

Putting a large, warm, dog at the foot of the bed prevents my nocturnal leg cramps.

Tiger Balm is amazing.

Glad I am not the only one getting weird cramps all of a sudden! I had a horrible charlie horse in my left foot during a lesson last week, and it took almost a week for the pain to go away. Thankfully the more I moved the better it felt, however sitting at my desk at work was not fun.

BASE Performance Salt…I used it as a triathlete and now for riding in the heat. Amazing. Helps keep me from cramping in the heat or while training.

Ooh!

I use Emergen-C because it’s a pretty decent electrolyte mix, but this looks great. And very cost effective by comparison. Thanks!

Getting in more electrolytes has been HUGE for me. I am a cramper, and used to have cramps often. I thought just Mg would help, but it has been electrolytes which made the difference.

I love DripDrop rehydration salts for heavy activity. They’re my go to for long hikes. And they taste great!

Also lineament. One of the first things I do if I know I’m going to be sore is out lineament on it.

Eat a banana every day.

I take magnesium and I stopped getting them when I sleep.

Back on Track wraps for the calf, and socks for cramps in the feet.
